'Cordyceps' drug discovered smuggled from China into Vietnam

Transporting 1.1 kg of drugs for a salary of 5 million VND, Thanh asked his brother-in-law to take him on a motorbike to catch a bus to Hai Phong but was arrested by the police.

The Joint Control Station Km15-Dan Tien Wharf (Mong Cai, Quang Ninh) has just handed over Nguyen Dinh Thanh (30 years old, from Hai Phong) and the evidence of 1.1 kg of drugs to Mong Cai City Police for further investigation and handling.

Previously, at around 7:00 p.m. on May 19, the interdisciplinary working group of the Joint Control Station Km15-Dan Tien Wharf discovered Vu Tuan Quang (26 years old, from Hai Phong) riding a motorbike in the direction of Mong Cai - Ha Long, with Nguyen Dinh Thanh sitting behind him carrying a suspicious bag.

Police checked Thanh's bag and found two yellow nylon bags with Chinese characters inside containing crystal meth, two white nylon bags and one purple bag with Chinese characters containing the drug "cordyceps". The total weight of these five bags was 1.1 kg.

According to authorities, "cordyceps" is a new type of drug that has appeared recently.

At the investigation agency, Nguyen Dinh Thanh confessed to transporting the above drugs for a man named Tuan residing in Mong Cai to Hai Phong city, for 5 million VND.

Vu Tuan Quang is Thanh's brother-in-law. Thanh asked him to take him to catch a bus to Hai Phong. When he was arrested, Quang found out that Thanh was transporting drugs.
