The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee informed the above information at the city's online meeting on the first quarter of 2020 this morning, April 6.

According to Mr. Chung, the 47-year-old patient in Me Linh went to the Department of Allergy and Immunology, Bach Mai Hospital on March 12. On April 4, the Hanoi CDC took samples and on the evening of April 5, the results were positive. "So this patient has been incubating the disease for exactly 23 days," Mr. Chung said.

Me Linh District People's Committee said that this patient has been transferred to the Central Tropical Hospital, branch 2, for treatment.

After being notified of the case by the Hanoi CDC, Me Linh district conducted an epidemiological investigation, isolated the area, and made a list of close contacts (F1) and indirect contacts (F2) to request the People's Committee of the commune or town to issue a decision on medical isolation.

According to the Chairman of Hanoi, the patient in Me Linh had an incubation period of up to 23 days, showing that studies in the world are happening in Hanoi. "For example, South Korea has the longest incubation period of 27 days; the US has an average of 22.5 days, and China has just announced the longest incubation period in Wuhan of up to 29 days," he said.

In addition to the above case, the Chairman of Hanoi said that on the morning of April 6, the city CDC also discovered a positive case of nCoV flying back from Russia, and was quarantined at the FPT University dormitory. This patient is 35 years old and lives in Ha Tinh, entered the country on March 25, tested negative the first time, but the second sample was positive.

Hanoi leaders asked districts to continue to review and immediately quarantine cases related to Bach Mai Hospital "because this is still a potential outbreak with great risk". He also asked districts to consider extending the quarantine period "not 14 days but 24 days". For cases that have completed 14 days of quarantine and returned to their families, the commune and ward chairmen must ask them to self-isolate at home for another 14 days to prevent the epidemic from spreading to the community.
