Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee attended the event. All people participate in protecting national borders

Over the past 34 years of implementing the “People’s Border Defense Day” (March 3), central ministries, branches and localities have made great efforts to build a border area with comprehensive development in politics, economy, culture, society, national defense and security. This work has the participation of the entire population, creating an increasingly strong people’s defense line to protect border sovereignty and security.

Campaigns towards the border and islands were widely deployed throughout the country, mobilizing huge resources to help communes in border, coastal and island areas, border posts and stations, promptly motivating officers, soldiers and people of all ethnic groups in the border and island areas to overcome difficulties, perform well the task of maintaining security and order in border areas, and protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Fatherland in all situations.

Nghe An has 468.281km of land border and 82km of coastline. The provincial Border Guard has advised and seriously implemented Directive 01 of the Prime Minister, established and maintained the orderly and effective operation of steering committees and border self-management teams.

During the implementation process, centralized and unified leadership and direction were always ensured. Localities and units were active, proactive, creative, and organized many good models and new ways of doing things with rich and vivid contents and forms; mobilized the masses, all levels, sectors, and forces to participate in protecting territorial sovereignty, maintaining political security, social order and safety in border areas, and building a friendly border with Laos.

The Border Guard Command of Nghe An province regularly organizes and directs the effective implementation of management work, firmly protecting the sovereignty and security of the border and sea areas; coordinates well in resolving incidents, ensuring political security - social order and safety in the area.

From 2009 to present, the Provincial Border Guard has coordinated to patrol, control and protect the border with more than 9,000 patrols/56,000 officers and soldiers participating; coordinated bilateral patrols of more than 600 patrols/5,600 officers and soldiers participating; coordinated with competent authorities to register and control tens of thousands of people, vehicles and goods crossing the border, entering and exiting seaports in accordance with the provisions of law; promptly detected, prevented and effectively fought against activities violating the border line and landmarks.

In addition to performing the task of managing and protecting border security sovereignty and local security and order, the Provincial Border Guard has actively participated in building political bases, developing the socio-economy, helping people to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, achieving many good results.

In border localities, many emulation movements have emerged in managing and protecting territorial sovereignty and border security; many movements have emerged to eradicate hunger, reduce poverty, eliminate illiteracy, and universalize primary education for children of ethnic groups...

Thanks to that, it has contributed to making the political security situation and social order and safety in the border and island areas of the province increasingly stable, people's lives have gradually improved; the solidarity and friendship with the forces and people of Laos have been consolidated and strengthened.

Socio-economic development associated with strengthening national defense and security in border areas

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu highly appreciated the great achievements in building the all-people border defense over the past 34 years; acknowledged the efforts of the Provincial Border Guard units that have played a core role in organizing the implementation of "All-People Border Defense Day", building an increasingly solid "All-People Border Defense" in the border area, contributing significantly to the great achievements in building and defending the Fatherland.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee stated: The 64th anniversary of the Border Guard's Traditional Day and the 34th anniversary of "National Border Guard Day" is an opportunity for us to further understand the position and role of border work in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

At the same time, affirm and praise the great achievements and glorious traditions of the Border Guard over the past half century, along with valuable lessons learned through 34 years of organizing the "National Border Guard Day". From there, build a higher determination in implementing the correct guidelines and policies of the Party and State on building the "National Border Guard", "National Border Guard Position"; effectively promote the combined strength of all levels, sectors and the masses in the cause of building and protecting sovereignty and border security.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu requested that local Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, organizations and cadres and soldiers continue to promote propaganda work, raise awareness and responsibility of cadres and people in participating in border protection; promptly grasp all developments of the situation early and from afar, and provide information to functional forces to advise on effectively resolving issues related to sovereignty and territory.

The local government, mass organizations of Ky Son district and the Border Guard force need to effectively implement programs, projects, plans and plans for economic, cultural and social development, in conjunction with strengthening national defense and security in border areas; actively mobilize organizations, individuals and philanthropists to support and help poor households in the area develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty through appropriate and effective livelihood models and public works.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also requested the Party Committee, government, departments, branches and organizations of Ky Son district in general and Keng Du commune in particular to actively coordinate with the Provincial Border Guard to advise all levels on policies and solutions to build and protect territorial sovereignty and border security; regularly pay attention to, care for, create favorable conditions to support, encourage and help officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard to successfully complete their assigned tasks.

On this occasion, the Provincial Border Guard Command awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in border protection. The Provincial Fund for the Poor awarded 20 livelihood models, 10 civil works, and 10 bicycles to poor students who have overcome difficulties to excel in their studies in Keng Du commune, with a total value of 720 million VND; presented gifts to prestigious people; presented gifts to poor households in the area; Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper presented the national flag under the program "Proud of the National Flag",... The Provincial Border Guard also coordinated with Hue Central Hospital to visit and conduct free cardiovascular screening for students and people in Keng Du commune.

Previously, the Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to organize the 2023 People's Border Guard Festival in the border commune of Keng Du. The festival featured cultural exchange activities and attractive folk games, attracting a large number of people to participate and respond, such as: throwing con, tug of war, bamboo jumping, etc., contributing to strengthening the solidarity between the army and people at the border.
