Vinh Street and green goals
(Baonghean.vn)- In recent years, due to the requirements of urban beautification and traffic congestion reduction, the requirement of maintaining nursery area as well as renewing and replacing trees to meet urban criteria of Vinh City has faced great challenges.
Before 2000, the systemgreen treesVinh city's trees are mainly planted spontaneously, except for a few main streets, where people can plant almost any kind of tree.
Since 2007, based on the project, Vinh city has surveyed and re-evaluated the entire current status of green area and oriented it until 2015 and the following years.
Up to now, although there has not been an official assessment of the results of the implementation of the Green Tree Planning Project until 2020, according to the report of the Urban Management Department, the entire city has a converted green tree area of 60 hectares, reaching an average rate of 1.9 m2/person, meeting the standards of type I and II urban areas in Vietnam.

Mr. Phan Xuan Bao - Director of Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company said: In the context of investment from the budget for the city's green trees only meeting 40% of the demand, the people and agencies and units share and join hands for the green city. Thanks to that, Vinh city has a number of streets that used to be symbols of a Vinh city covered with green trees...
In recent years, using supporting investment capital, Vinh city has invested in a green tree line along the North Canal, running parallel to Nguyen Sy Sach and Phung Chi Kien streets; at the same time, gradually replacing trees that are no longer suitable for urban criteria on Cao Thang Street, Ho Tung Mau Street, Nguyen Van Cu Street, Truong Thi Street, Lenin Avenue... Particularly, the line along the North Canal, after nearly 3 years, has been green for thousands of years.rosewoodand the yellow color in early summer creates a unique urban landscape.

Along with the urban beautification and street construction projects according to each theme of the City People's Committee, project investors such as Vinh Tan New Urban Area, New Urban Area in South Nguyen Sy Sach, South Le Loi Urban Area or Quang Trung Street... during the implementation of the projects also dedicate a lot of area to planting urban trees.
New challenges
Like other cities, Vinh city is facing many challenges as it is growing and expanding. One of the challenges and pressures is the planning of the green tree system previously planted on major streets. If the trees are kept, it will cause traffic jams.
Previously, from the intersection of Tran Phu Street with Le Mao Street to Cua Nam Fish Lake, there were rows of green trees such as soapberry, milk flower, and parasol trees that were very cool. However, recently, to open the road and reduce traffic jams, some of the trees on Tran Phu Street have been removed. Therefore, in the near future, to improve the urban area and reduce traffic jams, the city should consider the most reasonable plan to renovate the sidewalks and bulvals, only removing unsuitable trees that are easy to break...

A representative of the Vinh Urban Infrastructure Project Management Board shared: Cutting down trees in the summer is something that every unit avoids and does not want. When planning a sidewalk renovation project or building a ditch, they also try to avoid the summer and rainy and stormy seasons. However, because the project approval procedure does not take into account the season and the construction items must avoid the rainy and stormy seasons, a street that has to move trees in the dry season has caused public concern...
Mr. Phan Xuan Bao - Director of Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company said: Currently, replacing trees according to urban criteria along with each infrastructure upgrade project of the city is facing many difficulties. The community wants to have shade immediately after replacing trees; but the budget does not allow the city to buy big, beautiful trees... To renovate and upgrade according to smart urban criteria, first of all, there must be compatible smart infrastructure for people to share and integrate.
