On the morning of April 28, a working group of Nam Can commune (Ky Son) and Nam Can International Border Gate Border Guard Station, including border guards, medical staff, police, militia, cultural staff, etc., went to Truong Son village to conduct propaganda about the epidemic.Covid-19for the people here. The working group went to each house to distribute leaflets, telling people about the epidemic, how to protect themselves and the community from the risk of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Disease propaganda activitiesCovid-19in Nam Can commune in particular and Ky Son district in general has been carried out since the beginning of last year - when the epidemic first appeared. And this propaganda activity is being strengthened and promoted more when the epidemic is currently breaking out, infecting the community in Laos with over 500 cases.

Comrade Ho Ba Cha - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nam Can Commune said: The commune has a 29.9 km border with Laos. Previously, people on both sides of the border often farmed close to each other and often visited relatives. When the Covid-19 epidemic appeared, the Party Committee and the commune government directed the police and military forces to coordinate with the Border Guard Station of Nam Can International Border Gate to increase checkpoints to prevent illegal entry and exit.

The commune also mobilized militia, youth union, and people to support and help the border guard station build 7 posts in the area with 150 working days, many items such as gas stoves, gas cylinders, water bottles, and gifts to encourage officers and soldiers.

The Party Committee and the government of Nam Can commune also coordinated with the Border Guard Station to conduct dozens of direct propaganda sessions for 6 villages in the commune; propaganda using loudspeakers, leaflets, billboards, posters... to help people understand the epidemic and apply epidemic prevention and control measures such as wearing masks, using disinfectants, and not gathering in large crowds.

According to comrade Ho Ba Cha: Currently, the epidemic in Laos is developing complicatedly. There have been cases of COVID-19 infection in Xieng Khouang province - the opposite locality. This requires the local epidemic prevention propaganda work to continue to be strengthened. Following the direction of Ky Son district, Nam Can is currently doing this well.

Thanks to the propaganda work about the epidemicCovid-19This has been done regularly and continuously, so the awareness of the people of Nam Can commune has been raised. Since the beginning of 2020, the people of Nam Can commune have provided 45 sources of information to the commune police and border guards to denounce people who crossed the border and entered the country illegally.

Mr. Va Ba Nhenh, 30 years old, Truong Son village, Nam Can commune, said: Thanks to the propaganda of the commune officials and the border guards, the villagers clearly understand the risks of the COVID-19 epidemic. From there, the villagers know how to prevent the disease as well as how to protect themselves and everyone; grasp and report illegal entry cases to the commune, station... Now that the epidemic has broken out in Laos, everyone in the village is afraid and pays more attention to disease prevention.

Strengthen effective measures

Ky Son district has over 200 km of border with Laos, 11 border communes and many people are doing business in Laos. Ky Son is considered the "front line" of Covid-19 prevention and control in Nghe An province. The risk of the epidemic entering through the dense network of trails in the district is very real.

Since the beginning of 2021, the situation of illegal entry in the border area between Ky Son district (Nghe An) and Nong Het district (Xieng Khouang) has somewhat "cooled down" compared to 2020. However, illegal entry activities still occur, and some subjects have been arrested and handled by authorities.

For example: On January 10, 2021, Keng Du Border Guard Station discovered and arrested two subjects who illegally entered Vietnam from Laos through a trail, Hoang Xuan Tuan (born in 1992) and Nguyen Dinh Nghi (born in 1987), from Hung Nguyen district. The two subjects confessed: They went to work in Vientiane, had urgent business and needed to return home but were afraid of being quarantined, so they tried to break the law.

Or recently, at 6:30 a.m. on April 26, My Ly Border Guard Station detected and arrested Ly Nhia Xa (Huoi Tu commune, Ky Son district) for illegal entry. Ly Nhia Xa confessed that he wanted to avoid the epidemic but was afraid of being quarantined, so he cut through the forest to cross the border to Vietnam.

Faced with new risks of the Covid-19 epidemic, Ky Son has been strengthening effective solutions to prevent the disease. Implementing the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccination plan of the Department of Health, on April 27-28, the Ky Son District Medical Center deployed Covid-19 vaccination for the District Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention and Control, medical staff, police forces and Border Guard forces of 7 Border Guard Stations in the area.

Doctor Sam Van Hai - Director of Ky Son District Medical Center said: The vaccination activities are guaranteed according to plan, subjects and safety. The vaccination of Covid-19 for frontline forces against the epidemic is very important in the work of disease prevention and control, especially for officers and soldiers who are working hard to carry out the task of fighting the epidemic at the border. As of the afternoon of April 28, Ky Son has vaccinated 210 people (50% of the total number of subjects vaccinated in the first phase).

Comrade Nguyen Huu Minh - Chairman of Ky Son District People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Ky Son District stated: In the context of the Covid-19 epidemic, Ky Son District has been strictly implementing the directions of the Government, the National Steering Committee, the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Nghe An Province, especially Official Dispatch 541/CD-TTg dated April 23 of the Prime Minister, Official Dispatch No. 2465/UBND-BCĐ dated April 26 of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Nghe An Province.

Accordingly, Ky Son district has raised the spirit of vigilance, promoted the responsibility of leaders, resolutely and synchronously implemented epidemic prevention and control measures effectively with the motto "Active prevention, early detection, quick isolation, effective treatment, thorough handling, and rapid stabilization of the situation"; stepped up propaganda work, organized inspections and supervision of the implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures as required by the Ministry of Health's 5K; regularly inspected the epidemic prevention and control plans of units; arranged forces to coordinate with 7 Border Guard Stations (Nam Can, Na Ngoi, Muong Ai, Nam Can International Border Gate, Na Loi, Keng Du and My Ly) to patrol, guard, arrest illegal entrants, strictly handle violations, and send them to medical quarantine according to regulations.

In particular, with the locality having many children working in Laos, the district has requested 21 communes and towns to propagate and advise people with children and relatives working in Laos to encourage them to return to the country and the locality to go through the official route through Nam Can Border Gate to be quarantined, prevent and control the epidemic, and have their health checked - said comrade Nguyen Huu Minh./.
