These days, on the coastal area of Quynh Luu district - the largest vegetable granary of the country,Nghe AnFarmers are rushing to harvest vegetables of all kinds. According to farmers, the prices of most vegetables have dropped.
Ms. Ho Thi Luong in Hamlet 3, Quynh Minh Commune is harvesting mustard greens. She said that with 1 sao of fertile land, her family grows 3 types of vegetables: mustard greens, coriander and cauliflower. Of which, cauliflower is being cared for, while mustard greens and coriander have been harvested, but the selling price is decreasing every day. Currently, mustard greens sold in the field are only 1,000 VND/kg, coriander has dropped to 5,000 VND/kg.
"After harvesting mustard greens and coriander, the family does not know what kind of vegetables to plant to suit the market, because the prices of all vegetables are decreasing. If this year the vegetables are unsold and cannot be sold, the vegetable growers will suffer heavy losses, because the price of fertilizer is much higher than last year," Ms. Luong worried.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang in Quynh Luong commune said that the chrysanthemum vegetables were ready to be harvested but it would take 3 days to sell them all, becausetradersonly ordered 1 ton/day, while the family's output is estimated at about 3 tons. Currently, chrysanthemum vegetables cost 3,000 VND/kg. If the purchasing time is prolonged, the price will decrease again.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tue - Chairman of Quynh Luong Commune People's Committee said: The locality has 200 hectares of land for vegetable production.Winter cropThis is the time when people boost production, so vegetable output is high, with a variety of vegetables, tubers, and fruits, serving the market inside and outside the province. After the flood at the end of October, green vegetables increased sharply in price, but recently they have been competing to reduce prices, and some vegetables are even difficult to sell. With favorable weather like this, I'm afraid that this year's winter vegetables will have a surplus.
In addition to Quynh Luu, Nghe An also has some areas specializing in winter vegetable cultivation: Some communes of Dien Phong, Dien Thanh, Dien Kim... (Dien Chau); Nam Anh, Nam Linh... (Nam Dan) and some communes of Do Luong, Nghi Loc. Currently, farmers are actively taking care of vegetables, supplying the market before, during and after Tet.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc - Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection said: The weather is favorable for localities to plant and care for winter crops. Therefore, the areas specializing in winter vegetables are growing strongly with many different types of vegetables, and it is forecasted that there will be a large supply in the near future.
To avoid the surplus of winter vegetable products, localities and cooperatives need to cooperate with businesses.product packagingAt the same time, farmers should plant in separate crops and should not focus on producing leafy vegetables, but should partially switch to growing tubers and fruits: tomatoes, potatoes, bitter melon... to supply the market more reasonably.
The paradox is that while vegetables in the market are cheap, the prices of imported Da Lat vegetables in supermarkets are still sky-high!
