Invited wife and friends to sell drugs because of business losses
(Baonghean.vn) - After losing money in business, Dac came up with the idea of drug trafficking. Dac then lured his wife and a young girl into participating in this illegal business.
On July 24, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of Hoang Tam Dac (born in 1976), Nguyen Thi Lien (born in 1988), both residing in Duc Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, and Tran Thi Hien Luong (born in 2003), residing in Tan Son commune, Quynh Luu district, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking". Dac and Lien are husband and wife.
In court, Dac confessed that in early 2020, due to business losses, he had the idea of buying drugs to sell for profit. Through drug addicts in Yen Thanh district, Dac bought 50.35 grams of drugs for 12 million VND from a man named Anh (unknown background and address).

After that, Dac brought the packages of drugs home and hid them near the water tank and under the family tree. Hoang Tam Dac told his wife Nguyen Thi Lien that he bought the drugs to sell for profit. Lien agreed. Dac showed Lien where the drugs were hidden.
On February 23, 2020, Tran Thi Hien Luong visited Lien's house and then stayed overnight. Lien asked Luong to help deliver drugs to customers when needed and Luong agreed. At 2:00 p.m. the same day, a man called Dac to order 60 pink pills for 2.5 million VND. Lien texted Luong to ask him to take the drugs to Cau Giat town to sell to customers. When Luong went to Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district, he was discovered by Dien Chau police, caught red-handed and confiscated the evidence.
From Luong's testimony, the police investigation agency conducted an emergency search of Nguyen Thi Lien's house and seized the remaining drugs.
The investigation agency determined that in this case, Hoang Tam Dac was the one who directly purchased the drugs and directed his wife, the defendant Lien, and Luong to participate in drug trafficking activities. Lien participated as an accomplice, assisting Dac in drug trafficking activities. Therefore, Dac and Lien must bear criminal responsibility for the act of buying and selling 50.35 grams of drugs. Luong participated as an accomplice to Dac and his wife in buying and selling 6.2 grams of drugs.
In court, the defendants admitted their crimes and asked for a reduced sentence.
Considering the case as a whole, the court sentenced Hoang Tam Dac to 15 years in prison, Nguyen Thi Lien to 10 years in prison, and Tran Thi Hien Luong to 2 years in prison for "Illegal drug trafficking".
