Morning of May 23: 33 more Covid-19 cases; many doctors in Bac Ninh collapsed due to overwork
(Baonghean.vn) - The Ministry of Health on the morning of May 23 recorded 33 more Covid-19 cases, including 31 domestic cases with 29 in Bac Ninh, 2 in Ninh Binh, and 2 imported cases that were immediately quarantined.
33 new cases were recorded from number 5087-5119. The total number of infections from April 27 to now is 2,067 cases, in30 provinces and cities. 5 provinces including Yen Bai, Quang Ngai, Dong Nai, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, after 14 days no new infections were recorded. Hot spots are still Bac Giang 851, Hanoi 276 cases (of which Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases 89 cases, 41 cases at K Hospital), Da Nang 150.
The number of new infections brings the total number of infections in Bac Ninh to 448, Ninh Binh to 4.
On the afternoon of May 22, clips appeared on social media, recording images of Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai and a female doctor at the Que Vo District Medical Center (Bac Ninh) collapsing and sitting on the floor due to exhaustion. Afterwards, the two doctors had to rely on first aid from their medical colleagues, giving them water, removing their protective gear, and using hand fans to regain consciousness.
The two doctors were exhausted because after wearing level 4 protective gear to take samples continuously for many hours, combined with the hot weather, their bodies were exhausted.

In particular, in the past few days, the above doctors have had to work continuously to rapidly trace Covid-19. On May 22 alone, Que Vo district set a target of collecting 28,000 Covid-19 test samples for local people. After receiving first aid, the health of the two doctors above has temporarily stabilized.
Mr. Dam Than Hien - Director of Que Vo District Medical Center, said that in recent days, not only the two doctors above have suffered from exhaustion due to overwork, but many doctors and nurses here have also encountered similar situations.
"In recent days, we have been conducting tests all night long, some days it was 4am before we finished collecting samples. Before the work was finished, the doctors and nurses were not allowed to rest. The workload was so heavy that many doctors and nurses were overloaded and exhausted, many doctors collapsed at the sample collection site. I was very sad to see my colleagues, brothers and subordinates exhausted and collapsed like that. For the common work, my brothers and sisters did not hesitate to face difficulties, I was really touched," said Mr. Hien.
