Present in the areaLach Quen fishing port(Quynh Luu) where a fire just occurred on 5 large fishing boats of fishermen, shows that in addition to the grief over the large amount of property burned down by the fire, fishermen also focused on checking the electrical equipment and fire fighting tools on the fishing boats anchored at the port.

Cleaning up theelectrical equipmentand tools on the fishing boat's hold, fisherman Tran Van Ha in Son Hai commune said, although he did not know the cause of the recent boat fire, first of all, he had to proactively take the best fire prevention solutions.

Accordingly, all electrical equipment must be regularly checked, neatly arranged, and not use too many electrical wires to connect on the ship; after anchoring the ship, check the entire circuit breaker system, battery... cooking equipment (gas stove, gas tank...). At the same time, fire fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers must also be regularly checked. In fact, fishing boats often anchor at the port for a long time, so the situation of rats getting on the ship and crawling into the engine compartment is quite common. Rats often bite electrical wires, gas stoves... so if not checked carefully, it is easy to cause an electrical short circuit.

"When it happensship fireOf course, there are reasons for this, but first of all, each crew member must take the initiative to prevent fires on board. If a fire occurs by mistake, billions of dong worth of assets will be burned down in a moment. Not only that, the fire will spread to other fishing boats. Therefore, when a boat fire occurs at the anchorage area at the fishing port, it is very dangerous," said fisherman Tran Van Ha.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Dong - Manager of Lach Quen Fishing Port said: Up to now, propaganda and reminders for fishermen to implement fire prevention solutions for fishing boats after each trip at sea have been regular activities, and at the same time, always reminding ship owners to assign people to look after the boats. However, many ship owners are still subjective, especially fire extinguishers and electrical equipment are not arranged scientifically and reasonably, many fishing boats do not have people watching them while anchoring.

Observations in the area south of Lach Quen Fishing Port on July 29 showed that many fishermen were still subjective in fire prevention. Some fishermen brought electric welding machines right in front of the fishing boat to weld fishing tools; many electrical outlets made by fishermen to pull electricity to the fishing boat were quite sketchy, shabby, and unsafe...

In fact, many fishing boats today have many risks of fire and explosion, such as the electrical wiring system is still arranged in a mess, while the ship's hold still contains a large amount of oil, gas tanks, and many plastic items that have not been neatly arranged by fishermen; some fishermen still smoke on the boat, right in the oil bunkers, which pose a very high risk of fire. Boats are anchored close together, and if a fire or explosion occurs, the fire will spread very quickly.

Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hang - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said: Every year, Quynh Luu district, together with the Fire Police force and fishing ports, has conducted many training sessions, advising people to regularly check electrical equipment, buy fire extinguishers for people... however, some fishermen are still subjective about this issue. In addition, when ships return to the port to anchor, there must be someone on duty on board, so that when there is an incident, it can be handled. Previously, there were also a number of ship fires in the area, causing great damage to fishermen.
