Nghe An Department of Education and Training requested strict handling of the case of students fighting in Nam Dan

The incident started from a conflict between Nguyen Thi Thu Hang and Nguyen Thuc Khanh, both students in class 8C, Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School (Nam Dan). Before that, because of the conflict, Khanh had threatened and once beat Hang. Because she was so upset, Hang asked high school students to beat her back.

Not stopping there, at noon on June 8, 2020, after school, Ngo Thi Hang, Phan Thi Hoai Giang and some other students in class 8C went to meet Nguyen Thi Thu Hang at hamlet 9, Nam Hung commune, Nam Dan district.

Here, Ngo Thi Hang and Phan Thi Hoai Giang beat Nguyen Thi Thu Hang. While the three girls were fighting, many other students stood outside watching, some of them used their phones to record video.

On June 15, 2020, a 3-minute video clip of three female students of Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School fighting was circulated on social media. Unfortunately, taking advantage of this incident, many inaccurate information was posted, causing confusion among the public and many conflicting comments. Among them were comments containing content that defamed and discredited the school's collective and teachers.

In response to this incident, the Department of Education and Training of Nam Dan district issued Official Dispatch No. 215 requesting the school to report and explain the incident; requesting the principal, homeroom teachers and related individuals to review.

In addition, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training coordinated with the District Police and the Commune Police to directly direct the handling of the incident at Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School. The Nam Dan District Police also summoned Ms. NTT (born in 1991), residing in Nam Hung Commune, the owner of the Facebook account "Duyen Phan Bo Si" - the person who spread the information to handle it in accordance with the law.

Mr. Le Trung Son - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nam Dan district said: Previously, the homeroom teacher of class 8C knew about the conflict but did not have a solution to coordinate with the family and students to resolve the conflict, leading to the unfortunate incident, so we temporarily suspended this teacher from his position as homeroom teacher.

Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School also visited and encouraged the beaten students, stabilized their mentality and maintained order in studying and school activities.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan - Chief of Office of Nghe An Department of Education and Training also said:

The Department has received a report from the Department of Education and Training of Nam Dan district about the incident of female students fighting at Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School. The Department's stance is to resolutely and strictly handle cases of school violence.

The Department also directed the Department of Education and Training of Nam Dan district to request Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School to coordinate with local authorities and police to verify and find out the cause of the student fight.

The school and homeroom teachers coordinate with the families and meet with the students involved in the incident. Explain to the students that fighting is a violation of the law, affects security and order as well as health safety, so that the students realize where they went wrong.

Continue to widely propagate not only in Hung Thai Nghia Secondary School but also in other schools in the area to prevent similar incidents from happening.

For the school, this is the time to complete the school year program, so it is necessary to stabilize the teaching and learning situation as well as review for 9th grade students. At the same time, direct a review meeting to clarify the responsibilities of education and student management of school leaders and teachers.
