Summary of activities of the Steering Committee for anti-corruption and negativity of provinces and centrally-run cities
On the morning of July 8, the Central Internal Affairs Committee held an online conference to review the first 6 months of 2024 on the activities of the Steering Committee for anti-corruption and anti-negativity of provinces and centrally run cities.

Comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity chaired. Co-chaired by leaders of the Central Internal Affairs Commission.

Evaluation of the past 6 months shows that, although there are still some difficulties and problems, with little experience, the activities of the Provincial Steering Committee have had many clear changes; activities have become increasingly systematic, methodical and effective.
Provincial Steering Committees have focused on directing the strengthening of inspection, supervision, and audit work, improving the effectiveness of coordination between functional agencies in detecting and handling corruption and negativity; both directing the strict handling of many corruption and negativity cases, especially complicated, prolonged, difficult, and entangled cases; and proactively detecting, prosecuting, investigating, and strictly handling a number of new cases and incidents related to violations that occurred in previous years and newly arising violations.

Accordingly, the Provincial Steering Committee has reviewed and put 74 cases and 33 complicated corruption and negative incidents that have attracted public attention in the area under monitoring and direction.
Through the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity, 456 new cases were prosecuted with 1,265 defendants for corruption crimes; the number of cadres and party members prosecuted for negative behavior was 823 people.
The Provincial Steering Committee has directed the handling of 35 cases of heads and deputy heads of agencies and organizations that allowed corruption and negative acts to occur; prosecuted 73 cases with 64 defendants for corruption and negative acts in the non-state sector.
The Provincial Steering Committee has actively led and directed the implementation of many solutions to prevent corruption, negativity, waste, and improve the effectiveness of State management in all fields; in which, through 2,088 inspections on the implementation of solutions to prevent and combat corruption and negativity, 58 units with violations were discovered and promptly corrected and rectified...

In Nghe An, identifying the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity as an important and regular task of the Party and State, under the leadership of the Provincial Steering Committee, all levels and sectors continue to synchronously implement solutions, creating positive and comprehensive changes, contributing to maintaining political security, order and social safety, serving the socio-economic development of the province.
Since its establishment (June 2022), the Provincial Steering Committee has put 27 corruption and negative cases (including 20 cases, 7 incidents) under monitoring and direction, of which 7 cases, 2 incidents have ended monitoring and direction; 13 cases, 5 incidents are being monitored and directed.
The conference listened to the leaders of the Central Internal Affairs Commission thoroughly grasp the content of Regulation No. 132-QD/TW dated October 27, 2023 of the Politburo on controlling power, preventing and combating corruption and negativity in investigation, prosecution, trial and execution of sentences.
Prepare good personnel for Party Congresses at all levels
After listening to the opinions of a number of provinces and cities, comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativity spoke to answer a number of recommendations and proposals from the provincial level.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee, Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, concluded and acknowledged the effectiveness of the direction of the provincial Steering Committees, thereby bringing the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity "hot above, hot below".
The Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission has oriented a number of key directions and tasks for the last 6 months of this year; including continuing to thoroughly direct and effectively implement the Politburo's regulations on controlling power, preventing and combating corruption and negative practices; and revolutionary ethical standards for cadres and party members in the new period.

At the same time, direct the completion of the preliminary and final review of the Politburo's Directives on strengthening the Party's leadership in the work of protecting those who discover, denounce, and fight against corruption, waste, and negativity; in the work of receiving citizens, handling complaints and denunciations; and in law enforcement agencies in the investigation and handling of cases and incidents.
The Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission requested to continue to promote the work of inspection, supervision and examination, focusing on areas prone to corruption and negativity, especially prominent, pressing issues of public concern and topics under the direction of the Central Steering Committee and the Central Inspection Commission; improve the effectiveness of supervision by elected representative agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, the People and the press on the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity...

In particular, comrade Phan Dinh Trac requested to focus on directing the removal of difficulties and obstacles, speeding up the inspection progress, and thoroughly handling serious, complicated corruption and negative cases that are of public concern, especially cases assigned by the Central Steering Committee and under the monitoring and direction of the provincial Steering Committee, including cases related to leaders and managers at all levels to serve the personnel work of the upcoming Party Congresses at all levels.
Accordingly, it is necessary to strictly implement the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to "absolutely not allow into leadership agencies those who have made mistakes, are involved in corruption, negativity, cover up crimes, and negatively affect the reputation of the Party".
