The international English playground TOEFL Challenge is back in full swing, waiting for Nghe An students to compete
(Baonghean.vn) - For many years, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training has coordinated with the IIG Vietnam Education Organization to launch the international English competition TOEFL Challenge with the desire to promote the movement of teaching and learning English, creating opportunities for Nghe An students to assess their English proficiency according to international standards.
The 2022-2023 school year is in full swing and the deadline for registration to participate in the provincial round is February 15, 2023.

TOEFL Challenge is the most prestigious and largest English competition and playground in the country, and has received the participation of many students in Nghe An province for many years. The competition uses the test by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) of the United States as a criterion to evaluate the English proficiency of candidates as well as award prizes for the competition: TOEFL Primary Challenge for primary school students (grades 2-5), TOEFL Junior Challenge for secondary school students (grades 6-9) and TOEFL ITP Challenge for high school students (grades 10-12).

The free online trial round and the provincial competition round will take place in February 2023 and are currently attracting a large number of Nghe An students to register. The competition is an opportunity for high school students at all levels in Nghe An province to get acquainted with international exam formats and demonstrate their English proficiency. Thereby, contributing to the effective implementation of the Project "Improving the quality of foreign language teaching and learning in educational institutions in Nghe An province, period 2020-2025, orientation to 2030" as approved by the Provincial People's Committee.
In the TOEFL Challenge 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons, Nghe An impressed with the results in the National round with 4 First Prizes and 3 Consolation Prizes. The National First Prize went to 3 primary school students: Vuong Thua Dang and Nguyen Phan Khanh Gia (Hung Dung I Primary School); Mai Truong Hai (Ha Huy Tap II Primary School) and Le Khanh Lam (Hong Son Primary School). The National Consolation Prizes were won by 3 students: Nguyen Duy Khoa (Hung Dung II Primary School), Nguyen Ba Phuoc (Lang Thanh Primary School) and Ho Sy Tung Bach (Hung Binh Primary School).
This is a testament to the clear progress of Nghe An's education sector, affirming that the quality of teaching and learning English is approaching international standards, comparable to that of big cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

Students are given priority for direct admission and early admission when they have a TOEFL score card.
In the upcoming provincial round (round 2), participating students will receive TOEFL Primary, TOEFL Junior and TOEFL ITP score certificates that are valid worldwide. The score reports provide valuable and reliable information about students' English proficiency. In particular, the Lexile score - a special tool only available on the TOEFL score report system - helps evaluate and guide the selection of English books suitable for each student's level, is a valuable "compass" for the process of practicing reading skills, helping children pronounce correctly and communicate confidently in English.
According to Official Dispatch No. 2525/SGDĐT-GDTrH-GDTH on the direction of organizing the TOEFL Challenge contest for the 2022-2023 school year issued by the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, there are clear regulations on priority regulations for students with TOEFL score cards: Specifically, the Departments of Education and Training direct high-quality key secondary schools and secondary schools recruiting students in the entire district/city/town to use the results of the TOEFL Primary exam at the provincial level for primary school students to consider direct admission to grade 6 for the 2023-2024 school year.
For junior high school students, the Department of Education and Training will use the results of the provincial TOEFL Junior round for junior high school students to directly enroll them into grade 10 for the 2023-2024 school year for the following high schools: Phan Boi Chau Specialized, Huynh Thuc Khang, Le Viet Thuat, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Quy Hop, Do Luong 1 and other high schools according to the enrollment plan.
High schools can use the results of the provincial TOEFL Junior round for junior high school students to prioritize class classification by subject group (exam group with English subject) for university admission for grade 10 students in the 2023-2024 school year.
