Exciting Lotus Food Processing Contest

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh An - Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism stated: For generations, lotus has been in the consciousness of each of us - a noble flower, symbolizing the spirit and character of the Vietnamese people.

Lotus is not only present in swamps and wild fields, but also follows people to the city, into offices, decorating every road, street corner, garden, beautifying the homeland and country.

Many young people have left the city to return to the countryside to start businesses, diligently researching and creating unique products such as lotus paintings, lotus silk,lotus ao daifamous at home and abroad, creating a breakthrough in processing technology, promoting the value of local resources in local socio-economic development.

Nowadays, Nghe An people are also creative and enthusiastic in exploiting the strengths of lotus plants to prepare nutritious and familiar dishes and drinks, many of which have achieved OCOP certification from 3 to 4 stars.

From the strengths of lotus, the tourism industry hopes that tourist accommodation establishments and restaurants will exploit and create more menus to serve tourists with lotus dishes to contribute to building Nghe An tourism to be safe, friendly and attractive.

Therefore, the Department of Tourism organizes the 2023 Lotus Dish Processing Contest in Nghe An province, which is also a practical activity to celebrate the 2023 Lotus Village Festival and the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023).

The 2023 Nghe An Province Lotus Dish Processing Contest attracted 12 teams from culinary businesses.tourismin the province. The competing teams went through 2 contents, including preparing a meal with lotus dishes and presenting and introducing the meal.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 6 consolation prizes to the teams.
