Quickly overcome shortcomings in implementing the School Milk Program
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of June 22, under the chairmanship of comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the School Milk Program Project for the 2015 - 2016 school year.
Attending the conference were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and relevant departments, branches, districts, cities and units.

The conference focused on evaluating the results achieved and some difficulties after 1 semester of piloting the School Milk Program Project in Nghe An province in the 2015-2016 school year. After 6 months, 17/21 districts and cities in the province have implemented the project with the participation of 215,851 students (reaching 50% of students in the whole province and 58.25% of the total number of students in participating districts). Thereby, there have been initial positive results.
In kindergartens, malnutrition by weight/age decreased from 1.16% to 4.77%, malnutrition by height/age decreased from 0.32% to 4.32%. In primary schools, malnutrition by weight/age decreased from 0.29% to 4.45%; malnutrition by height decreased from 0.26% to 3.6%.

However, during the implementation process, some problems arose. Notably, the transportation and storage of milk; milk prices; and lack of uniformity in facilities at schools. In many places, parents are still hesitant or due to limited economic conditions, the number of students participating is not large.
Concluding the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong highly appreciated the efforts of the localities in the implementation process. Regarding the difficulties and shortcomings, he requested TH Company to learn from experience, overcome and fulfill its commitments.

In the coming time, he also requested that departments and localities strengthen propaganda and mobilization work, especially propaganda on the media. In addition, the Department of Health needs to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to continue researching and developing projects up to 2020. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention and have policies to encourage and help disadvantaged families, poor households and special areas of the province.
