Tan Ky replicates sugarcane growing model with yield of 90 tons/ha

(Baonghean.vn) - In order to increase raw sugarcane productivity, Tan Ky district assigned each commune to implement a high-yield sugarcane intensive farming model with a scale of 5 hectares or more. Currently, many localities have registered models with a scale of 20 - 60 hectares.

From the concentrated sugarcane production model in Giai Xuan commune with a scale of more than 117 hectares, productivity reaching 80 - 90 tons/ha/year, sugarcane growers earn 30 million VND/ha, recently, Tan Ky District People's Committee organized a workshop to expand the model. Through that, many localities have registered to grow concentrated sugarcane for high productivity, which will be applied in the 2018 - 2019 crop year.

Accordingly, Giai Xuan commune registered to implement the model of 61 hectares, Tan Xuan 60 hectares, Ky Son 60 hectares, Nghia Hanh 60 hectares, Nghia Binh 30 hectares, Dong Van 20 hectares. For communes that have not registered, the District People's Committee assigned each commune to implement a concentrated sugarcane model with a minimum scale of 5 hectares or more.

Sugarcane varieties planted in concentrated models are LK92-11 and KK3.

These models will be supported by investment sources in the form of value chain production, capital to implement the new rural construction program and policies of Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company.

Tan Ky district currently has 5,872 hectares of raw sugarcane, however the average sugarcane yield is only 5.2 tons/ha/year, so sugarcane growers do not have high profits. Therefore, the implementation of the model to improve sugarcane productivity is of special interest to the People's Committee of Tan Ky district./.
