Strengthening mineral resources management in Yen Thanh
(Baonghean) - In recent years, the management of mineral resources in Yen Thanh district has received strong attention and direction from Party committees and authorities at all levels. Thanks to that, mineral exploitation activities in the area have gradually become more orderly, in compliance with legal regulations, contributing to the socio-economic development of the area.

Yen Thanh is a district with rich mineral resources, currently having 9/11 active quarries. Over the years, there have been many shortcomings in the process of stone mining and processing. Stone crushing, blasting and stone transportation have caused serious pollution to households living near the quarry area and traffic routes.
In particular, some quarries still have suspended rocks, causing unsafe working conditions; many quarries have not complied with national technical regulations on labor safety, and have not implemented the correct mining procedures and mining systems as defined in the approved mine design...
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Vice Chairman of Yen Thanh District People's Committee, said: In response to the above problems, the district has coordinated with the province's interdisciplinary inspection team to regularly inspect, handle and request enterprises to temporarily suspend mining activities to immediately overcome occupational safety risks; ensure implementation of legal procedures.

"If businesses do not proactively correct violations in a timely manner, the district will resolutely handle them, report to the province not to continue extending mining licenses and suspend these businesses," said Mr. Ha.
At the quarry of Thanh Nam Company Limited in Dong Thanh, the cutting of the hanging rocks has been completed and the road leading to the quarry is being built. In addition to exploiting according to the design to ensure labor safety, the quarry of Vu Ky Company Limited in Dong Thanh commune also does a good job of protecting the environment. In the stone crushing area, there are water sprayers to reduce stone dust, and the road leading to the quarry is watered every day. The unit applies differential blasting technology to ensure safety without flying rocks.
Yen Thanh district has proposed solutions such as: Strengthening propaganda and dissemination of legal education on mineral resource protection to villages and hamlets. Mobilizing local people not to exploit, purchase, store, or transport minerals illegally, detecting, denouncing, and punishing organizations and individuals who illegally exploit minerals in the area."To meet the demand for land leveling for projects in the area, Yen Thanh district has recently asked the Provincial People's Committee for "permission to use and renovate garden land and forestry land to serve the An Hung Garment Factory project site", said Mr. Nguyen Duc An - Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Yen Thanh district.
The volume of land to be leveled for this garment factory is 270,650 m3 of land. The land exploitation unit must pay over 838 million VND in taxes and fees, such as mineral exploitation rights fees, environmental protection fees, etc. The district is encouraging and supporting businesses to apply for land exploitation licenses, and at the same time hopes that the relevant agencies will create conditions for Yen Thanh to soon have a land mine to serve the leveling needs of projects in the area.

From 2019 to present, Yen Thanh District People's Committee has coordinated with 2 superior inspection teams to inspect and issue 13 decisions to sanction administrative violations against 7 enterprises operating in mineral exploitation in the district with a total fine of 441 million VND.
The companies fined include: Nam Thanh Company Limited, Dong Thanh Company Limited, 369 Joint Stock Company, Vu Ky Company Limited, Thanh Nam Company Limited, Chinh Phong Company Limited, Van Trai Company Limited.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: Tighten management of resources and minerals in Western Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Thanh Quy requested that the western localities of Nghe An need to tighten the management of natural resources and minerals in the area; promote the responsibility of local leaders; and overcome the consequences of mineral exploitation affecting people's lives.
