Thailand encourages businesses to increase investment in Vietnam.
After a solemn welcoming ceremony at the Thai government building in Bangkok, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting and talks with Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha.
The two Prime Ministers acknowledged that this relationship has become increasingly stable and developed in both breadth and depth in all fields of politics, security, economy, culture and society, especially since Vietnam and Thailand established a strategic partnership in 2013.

To further develop bilateral relations in the coming time, the two sides agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations and all-level delegations; and effectively implement bilateral mechanisms.
In terms of economy, the two sides affirmed their efforts to bring bilateral trade turnover to 20 billion USD before 2020; support each other to become a center for attracting trade investment in the region; agree to create conditions for each country's goods to access each other's markets; and promote cooperation on rice.
Prime Minister Chan-o-cha affirmed to encourage Thai businesses to increase investment in essential areas for Vietnam's development such as tourism, supporting industries, finance, banking, science and technology, agriculture and fisheries.
The two Prime Ministers emphasized that security and defense cooperation is one of the pillars of the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership; agreed to increase the exchange of views and defense policies, and promote practical cooperation between military services.
The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to not allowing individuals or organizations to take advantage of one country's territory to conduct activities against the other; to coordinate in preventing and combating terrorism and other types of crime; to strengthen cooperation in handling maritime issues; to promote negotiations on extradition agreements and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. The two sides affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation and sharing experiences to prevent illegal fishing.

Agreed to promote multimodal transport connectivity including road, sea and air between the two countries and within the sub-region such as the bus route connecting Thailand - Laos - Vietnam, the coastal transport route between Thailand - Cambodia - Vietnam; open new flight routes connecting Vietnam and Thailand such as the Quang Binh - Chiang Mai route.
The two Prime Ministers also reached high consensus on proposing measures to promote other areas of cooperation such as labor, agricultural trade, tourism, science and technology, culture and people-to-people exchange.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Thai side to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Thailand to integrate, and soon issue travel permits to elderly overseas Vietnamese.
The two sides shared the vision and commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in international forums, especially promoting cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations and forums; committed to continuing to cooperate closely with each other and with other ASEAN countries to strengthen solidarity, maintain stance, and promote ASEAN's central role in issues challenging peace and security in the region.

The two sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining peace, security and stability as well as safety and freedom of navigation in the East Sea; stressed the need for parties to ensure full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC); build, maintain and enhance mutual trust and confidence; respect the principles of self-restraint and non-use of force; and resolve differences and disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The two leaders also reaffirmed their support for ASEAN and China to soon reach a Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).
The two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of many important documents. In the evening of the same day, the Prime Minister, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended a solemn reception hosted by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha and his wife.
