According to the plan, by 2020, the total added value of the district will reach 4,500-4,700 billion VND. Of which, the service structure accounts for 40-41%, the construction industry accounts for 35-36%, and agriculture, forestry and fishery accounts for 24-25%. The total social investment capital will reach 22,000 billion VND.

Economically, growth poles and key areas will be formed: clusters of agricultural and forestry raw material production, traditional craft village products, stone mining and processing combined with Thanh Thuy border gate.

The district will attract businesses to exploit iron and manganese ore in Thanh Lam commune with an area of ​​57 hectares, reaching 80,000 m3 by 2020; calling for the construction of 2-3 brick and tile factories in Ngoc Van, Ngoc Son, Thanh Chi communes with a total capacity of 60 million bricks/year.

Call for investment in building high-quality instant tea factories, building tea factories for resettled tea areas, investing in agricultural product processing factories, animal and poultry feed processing factories in industrial clusters in the area, and clean wood and coal processing factories in Thanh Xuan commune.

The plan also includes the construction of Thac Muoi hydroelectric reservoir in Thanh Duc commune with a capacity of 16 MW.

Mr. Nguyen Van Que - Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee said: Thanh Chuong has a lot of potential in tea, handicrafts, and construction materials. The district is calling for investment in factories and actively clearing land, with mechanisms to support investors. Currently, there are a number of investors from Japan and Korea coming to study and survey. The goal is to strive to build Thanh Chuong into a prosperous district of Western Nghe An, with the structure shifting in the right direction, with synchronous infrastructure, and improving the spiritual and material life of the people.

It is known that currently, in addition to the Intimex Thanh Chuong cassava starch factory, 2 years ago, the district completed site clearance for the project "high-tech essential oil and functional food processing" in Thanh Thuy commune, but the project has not been implemented yet.
