Thanh Chuong prevents brown planthoppers in spring rice

(Baonghean.vn) - Most of the spring rice area of ​​Thanh Chuong district is infected with brown planthoppers. The district People's Committee is directing specialized agencies to coordinate with localities to spray rice to control planthoppers.

This spring crop, Thanh Chuong district planted 8,200 hectares of rice, mainly hybrid rice varieties. Thanks to good implementation of the crop calendar and intensive investment, the spring rice is growing well and entering the flowering stage.

However, due to the erratic weather, alternating between rain and sunshine, some pests have appeared, mainly brown planthoppers and rice blast. Through inspection by the functional sector, most of the spring rice fields in Thanh Chuong have been infected with brown planthoppers, with high numbers reaching 500 - 750 individuals/m2.

Faced with this situation, the District People's Committee assigned the Plant Protection Station to coordinate with relevant departments and communes to provide supplies, specific drugs and organize timely spraying. In addition, the authorities recommended that people spray to prevent rice blast and grain sterility.
