Vinh City: Prospects for a square persimmon specialty area
(Baonghean.vn) - In Nghi Duc commune (Vinh city), growing square rose trees has brought in a good income for people compared to other crops. However, support is needed for this specialty tree to promote economic efficiency.

With an area of nearly 1 hectare of garden land, initially, Mr. Luong Van Gion's family in Xuan Binh 13 hamlet, Nghi Duc commune (Vinh city) only planted a few or three square rose trees. After harvesting, they saw high economic efficiency, so they continued to invest in planting almost the entire garden area.
Thanks to favorable weather, this year the fruit set rate is high, each tree on average yields nearly 100kg of fruit, with the garden price of 40,000 - 50,000 VND/kg, providing a significant source of income.

Currently, Nghi Duc commune has 12/12 hamlets growing persimmons with an area of nearly 100 hectares. The most concentrated are in Xuan Trung and Xuan Binh 13 hamlets; each household grows 10-20 trees, producing tons of fruit, earning 10-20 million VND per crop.
According to the people, this is a tree with high economic value without requiring much cost and care. In particular, the square rose variety has good drought resistance, few pests, only need to weed, hoe the soil around the base and fertilize 1 to 2 times after harvest, then it will bear fruit again in season.

Although the expansion of square rose acreage in Nghi Duc is actively being carried out, people's rose planting is still extensive, scattered, and requires little investment in care.
Mr. Nguyen Binh Trieu - Vice Chairman of Nghi Duc Commune People's Committee added that in the coming time, to effectively promote the rose variety, he will support people with loans and open training classes to expand the area of square rose trees in the commune./.
