Vi May On was wanted by Ky Son District Police for gambling in 2020. According to investigation documents, at around 4:00 p.m. on January 29, 2020, Ky Son District Police caught Vi May On red-handed along with Moong Van Dai (born in 1991), Quang Van Kham (born in 1996), Luong Van Hien (born in 1982), all residing in Khe Tang village, Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district; Dau Quang Huy (born in 1992), Vi Van Na (born in 1991), all residing in Khe Nan village, Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district; Loc Van Tinh (born in 1995), residing in Ba village, Huu Kiem commune, Ky Son district, for gambling. More than 7 million VND, 2 decks of cards and some other related evidence were seized at the scene.

During the arrest, taking advantage of the terrain, Vi May On fled to Laos. After a period of unsuccessful pursuit, the Investigation Police Agency of Ky Son District Police issued Wanted Decision No. 02/QD-TN dated March 18, 2020 for Vi May On.

After escaping, in order to avoid being discovered and arrested by the police, Vi May On initially lived in seclusion in the border communes of Ky Son district. However, due to fear of having his whereabouts exposed, Vi May On later escaped to Laos through illegal means. In order to avoid suspicion, Vi May On worked as a porter and bricklayer during the day at construction sites, and slept in abandoned houses at night.

For more than 2 years, Vi May On created for herself the cover of a hard-working manual worker who rarely interacted with people around her. Just like that, On thought that her actions would not be discovered or arrested by the police. However, Vi May On's actions could not escape the attention of the Ky Son District Police. Through the work of grasping the situation and synchronously deploying professional measures, the Ky Son District Police followed every trace to find the right opportunity to arrest Vi May On.

On February 9, 2023, Ky Son District Police presided over and coordinated with Ngoc Hoi District Police (Kon Tum Province) and Phu Vong District Police, A Ta Pu Province (Laos) to successfully arrest Vi May On and escort him to the District Police headquarters. Currently, Ky Son District Police are completing the dossier to handle the subject according to the provisions of law.
