The victim was Vi Thi Th. (6 years old) in Thanh Lam village, Thanh Son commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An.
According to locals, on the afternoon of July 16, Vi Thi Thuy followed her grandmother to the rice fields to pump water. While her grandmother was pumping water, Thuy followed her buffalo herder friend to play and drowned in a nearby stream.
When locals discovered the incident and rescued Thuy, she had already died. It is known that Thuy was in first grade, the eldest of two children. Thuy's younger sister had cerebral palsy and passed away in 2018.
