Young girl sold to brothel for 8 million VND

Twice, Hang tricked girls who were having problems and took them across the border to China and sold them to brothels.

On December 15, Hai Phong People's Court opened the first instance trial of Nguyen Thi Hang (20 years old) for the crime of Human Trafficking.

According to the verdict, Hang went to China to work when she was only 15 years old. There, she and a taxi driver planned to trick Vietnamese girls into prostitution. For each girl who was successfully brought to China, Hang would receive 2,500-3,000 yuan.

At the end of September 2015, Hang knew that Linh, not yet 17 years old, was sad about family matters, so she invited her to go to China to find a job. When her “prey” took the bait, Hang took Linh across the border to Dongxing city (China) and sold her for 8 million VND.

After more than a year of being transferred to many prostitution dens, Linh escaped and returned to Vietnam. Based on the information Linh provided, Hang was arrested.

Hai Phong People's Court sentenced Hang to 7 years in prison and ordered Linh to pay 300 million VND in compensation.

A year ago, also for human trafficking, Hang was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison but the sentence was suspended because she was raising a child under 36 months old.

Combining the two sentences, Hang must serve 13 years and 6 months in prison.
