Prime Minister's New Year Message: Vision and Aspiration

Huong Giang January 2, 2019 06:59

To implement vision and aspiration requires the efforts of the entire political system as well as each family and each individual.

On the occasion of the new year 2019, the head of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc wrote an article full of pride when looking back at the achievements of 2018 in all fields, from politics, economy, society to foreign affairs, security, and defense. In particular, the achievement is very clear: the average income of each Vietnamese person last year increased by 202 USD compared to 2017, equivalent to nearly 5 million VND. The face of the country, from urban to rural areas, is constantly changing and developing.

Prime Minister: We must have a broad vision and a strong desire to rise.

Entering the new year 2019 with such positive signals, the Prime Minister did not forget to reiterate the words of General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong at the recent online conference with localities, that "we must not rest on our laurels". Especially, in 2019 - the 50th anniversary of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's sacred Testament, the head of the Government commented: Imbued with his thoughts and wishes, we must have a broad vision and a strong desire to rise up.

The vision and aspiration encapsulate many implications that, to implement, require the efforts of the entire political system as well as each family and each individual.

What is that vision if not the foresight and broad vision to know who you are, how you are moving in a constantly changing world. Having the right vision means not lulling yourself to sleep, not being satisfied with yesterday's success, seeing that you have to make more efforts. Having the right vision will lead to the right forecasts, the right analysis to respond flexibly and wisely, promoting national strength with the strength of the times - the core factor that has created important victories for the country in difficult historical periods.

Wasn't it in 2018, thanks to correct forecasts, that we had unexpected growth results when we surpassed 7%, among the highest growth countries in the region and the world, despite the complex and unpredictable fluctuations in the international and regional context, especially trade wars, fluctuations in exchange rates, interest rates, crude oil prices, etc. That achievement, considered in such a general context, is truly meaningful.

But, having a vision without action, without a strong desire to rise up, without turning aspirations into practical actions, the vision remains only on paper. Countless times, the head of government has mentioned the aspiration to rise up of the Vietnamese people, mentioned products “made in Vietnam”.

That aspiration is the desire to escape poverty, the desire to start a business, regardless of success or failure. That aspiration is that the Vietnamese people, though small, can still stand on par with all countries in the world, making outstanding achievements in the regional and international arena.

Thanks to those aspirations, we have witnessed many private corporations growing strongly, many products bearing the mark and intelligence of Vietnamese people, from cars, motorbikes, mobile phones, textiles, footwear to seaports, airports...

And above all, the Prime Minister's greatest aspiration is to build Vietnam into a "startup nation" as some countries have done and done successfully. Every year, the number of newly established enterprises is higher than the previous year, the desire to start a business must spread from leaders to ordinary people. Encourage people to escape poverty and strive to get rich, even though there are many difficulties ahead, success will definitely come.

2019 has been present in every family, every community and every country in the world. Right on the first day of the new year, we have received positive signals from airports, seaports, border gates or key projects, the excitement of people through tourism and shopping activities is constantly increasing...

And in particular, also on the first day of the new year, the Government issued Resolution 01/NQ-CP, setting out a series of key tasks and solutions to implement the Socio-Economic Development Plan and State Budget Estimate for 2019.

We have achieved many successes thanks to the Government's strong leadership in recent years in the spirit of "Discipline, integrity, action, creativity, efficiency". With a strong vision and aspiration to rise, we will definitely have breakthroughs in 2019 - the pivotal year of the 5-year plan 2016-2020./.
