Thong happily shared the results with his parents and family members.
In her happiness, Thong's sister could not hold back her tears. This achievement was not only Thong's but also the pride and trust of the whole family...
Cao Duy Thong is a Tho ethnic. His family currently lives in Cao village, Nghia Mai commune - a commune in a particularly difficult area of Nghia Dan district. Like many other families in the village, Thong's parents are farmers. Thong's family has 3 sisters and all 3 sisters are famous for being good students since childhood. 10 years ago, the first and second sisters received university admission notices to the University of Medicine. However, due to the family's circumstances at that time, Thong's two sisters put their dreams of going to university aside and went to work early. All hopes were placed on the youngest brother.

Perhaps because of his family's circumstances, even though he lived in a remote area with poor learning conditions, Thong was very studious and did very well. During his junior high school years, in all three years of grades 6, 7, and 8, Thong participated in the district's excellent student competitions in Literature and English and won first and second prizes. What Thong regretted most was that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Thong was not able to participate in the provincial excellent student competition in grade 9.
Since grade 10, when he was admitted to Co Do High School, Thong has been an outstanding student. In Thong, teachers also saw in him the will to try and strive tirelessly. In particular, during his studies, Thong always proved his ability in excellent student exams, mock exams, and assessment tests. In grade 12, Thong won second prize in English at the provincial excellent student exam.
Talking about Thong, teacher Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan - homeroom teacher of class 12D1, what she remembers most is the image of a hard-working, humble student. That student, during 3 years of high school, rarely had a full lunch but mainly ate bread and sticky rice in front of the school gate and studied during lunch in the classroom. Thong was also a special student, knowing how to share with friends, being the pillar of the class, forming a group to help poor students progress together. Even in grade 11, Thong also organized a group to support his 12th grade brothers and sisters who were weak in English for the high school graduation exam.

Sharing about her student, teacher Phuong Lan added: Thong's self-study ability is very good, he does not study for exams but studies comfortably to enrich his knowledge with a very comfortable mindset. I am not surprised that he is the valedictorian of the whole province and Thong is a shining example for poor students in a school with many difficulties like Co Do High School.
Valedictorian is not a bookworm
Talking about this year's exam results, Thong also admitted that he was surprised with his Literature score of 9.5. The rest of the exam scores were within his expectations. In addition, Thong was a bit surprised with his position as the province's top student, because in his mind, there were many students who were good at studying and compared to them, he was not really outstanding.
Talking about his learning experience, Thong said that he is not a bookworm because he does not take extra classes or spend much time studying. However, when he sits down to study, Thong always tries his best and makes the most of his time to focus on his lessons.
With this learning method, Thong confidently took the test and achieved an IELTS score of 8.0 even though he did not take any online courses or attend any foreign language center. This is also a very rare result for a school located in a mountainous area like Co Do High School. Thong added: Since grade 10, I have had the intention of taking the IELTS Certificate and I went online to look up learning methods. I think my biggest advantage is having a fairly solid grammar foundation. For the rest, I found materials to study on my own. I practiced listening and speaking by watching clips online and practicing speaking every day to practice my skills.

With an IELTS certificate of 8.0, Thong was of course exempted from the English exam. However, with the desire to test himself, he still registered for the exam and achieved a score of 10. Even with the high school graduation exam, before taking this exam, Thong had received a notice of admission to the Diplomatic Academy according to his first choice. However, because he wanted to assert himself, because he did not want to disappoint his teachers, Thong's family tried their best to achieve the highest results.
Having achieved such high results, Thong would like to thank the teachers who have accompanied and supported him during his studies at school. Thong is grateful to his parents and sisters, because family is the motivation for Thong to try harder every day.

Thong said he really likes learning about history and the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and other countries in the world, especially in the current period of integration. Therefore, the Diplomatic Academy will be the school for Thong to realize his dream of becoming a diplomat in the future...
