Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz pays official friendship visit to Vietnam

At the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz will pay an official friendly visit to Vietnam from September 28 to October 2, 2022.

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz is expected to arrive at Noi Bai airport on the evening of September 28.

This official friendship visit to Vietnam is the first visit outside Latin America by Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz since taking office (December 2019), and also the first visit by a high-ranking Cuban leader to Vietnam since 2018.

The official friendly visit to Vietnam by Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz aims to implement the contents of the agreements reached between the two countries' senior leaders, continue and develop the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, and demonstrate the determination of both sides to continue to develop and further strengthen the friendship, solidarity, loyalty, mutual trust, and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States, Governments and People of the two countries.

The visit is meaningful in continuing and developing the solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, implementing the contents of the agreements reached during the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in March 2018, the official friendship visit to Vietnam by President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz - Canel in November 2018 and the official friendship visit to Cuba by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc in September 2021.

The visit once again affirmed that the two sides will continue to inherit and strongly promote the fine traditions, determined to bring the special relationship between the two countries to a new stage of development, increasingly deeper and more effective, focusing on gradually raising economic, trade and investment cooperation to the level of the good political relationship between the two countries.

The solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba was established and continuously developed after the successful Cuban Revolution (January 1959).

In recent years, the special traditional relationship between the two countries has continued to be consolidated and strengthened in all fields of politics - diplomacy, economics - trade, security - defense, which is reflected in the results of visits, talks, and phone calls between high-ranking leaders of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly of the two countries.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc's official visit to Cuba in September 2021 is the first visit by a foreign head of state to Cuba since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the talks between the two countries' senior leaders, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel said that the Cuban Party, State and Government highly valued the visit to Vietnam by Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.
