On the afternoon of June 17, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting between the Government Standing Committee and leaders of press agencies to celebrate the 97th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2022).

Also attending were Deputy Prime Ministers Le Minh Khai and Vu Duc Dam; leaders of the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association; leaders of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam Television, and leaders of press and media agencies nationwide.

At the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association, news agencies and newspapers expressed their gratitude for the attention, direction and facilitation of the Government Standing Committee headed by the Prime Minister for the country's press activities.

The delegates reported to the Prime Minister on the role and current situation of press activities and major orientations in press and propaganda work in the coming time; pointed out current difficulties and challenges, and at the same time recommended that the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, branches and central agencies continue to create more favorable conditions for press agencies and journalists to better fulfill their assigned tasks.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reiterated President Ho Chi Minh's advice: "Revolutionary journalism is a revolutionary front; press cadres are also revolutionary soldiers; pens and paper are their sharp weapons." Over 97 years of development and growth, under the leadership of the Party and the guidance of Uncle Ho, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press has continuously grown in many aspects.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that our country has experienced 2021 and the first 6 months of 2022 with many very special things. While the entire Party and people were carrying out tasks after the 13th National Party Congress, electing deputies to the 15th National Assembly, People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term and other regular tasks, the COVID-19 pandemic spread strongly, affecting all aspects of social life. In the world, along with having to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, strategic competition continued to develop complicatedly; conflicts broke out in Ukraine; oil prices, input material prices, and inflation increased in many countries around the world; climate change became more severe...

In that context, thanks to the leadership and direction of the Party; the management and administration of the State; the participation of the entire political system, people, businesses and the help of international friends, our country has still achieved many important achievements: firmly protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; political security, social order and safety, safety and security of the people are ensured; foreign affairs are implemented synchronously, comprehensively, in accordance with the situation; the macro economy is stable; major balances are ensured; people's lives are getting better and better... In that achievement, there is the active participation and contribution of press agencies and journalists in our country. "Journalists are one of the forces on the front lines of the "fronts". The press contributes to making people know, people understand, people follow, people believe and people do", the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister said that the whole country is making efforts to concretize the Party's guidelines on building a socialist-oriented market economy; building a socialist rule-of-law state and building socialist democracy. In which, it is clearly defined that people are the center, the subject, both the goal and the driving force of development. With the goal that by 2025, our country will be a developing country with modern industry, surpassing the low-middle income level; by 2030, it will be a developing country with modern industry, high-middle income; by 2045, it will become a developed country with high income.

In the immediate future, carry out 6 key tasks, 3 strategic breakthroughs identified by the 13th National Party Congress; along with that, continue to handle the backlog of many years such as: handling weak credit institutions, loss-making projects, prolonged projects; promote the development of green economy, circular economy, energy conversion, digital transformation, combating climate change...

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude and sent his best wishes to the delegates, representatives of news agencies, newspapers and all journalists nationwide and working abroad. The Prime Minister hopes and believes that with their fine historical traditions, intelligence and bravery, Vietnamese news agencies, newspapers and journalists will continue to make greater contributions to the Party's cause and the happiness of the people; contribute to building an honest, disciplined, disciplined, resolute and effective Government; build an increasingly powerful and prosperous country; and make the people increasingly prosperous and happy.

The Prime Minister asked the press to promote the spirit of “clear eyes, pure heart, sharp pen”, which is a sharp weapon in the fight against corruption, negativity, and waste, which is being deployed resolutely, synchronously, and effectively by our Party, under the leadership and direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

"The Government supports and makes efforts to strengthen the potential of the press, within its authority; in accordance with the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws; in accordance with the practical requirements and the country's ability to respond, within the overall picture of all professions", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed.
