Prime Minister: Strengthening the building of a politically strong Army

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized this at the 65th anniversary of the tradition of the Academy of Politics - Ministry of National Defense, on October 23.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized that the requirement to build a politically strong army must be taken seriously, becoming both a fundamental and urgent issue.

65 years ago, the Vietnam People's Army Intermediate Political School - the predecessor of today's Political Academy, was established under the direction of the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh.

The Prime Minister reviewed the honor guard and congratulated the officers of the Academy of Politics - Ministry of National Defense.

The school was established to train political cadres to meet the requirements of strengthening the Party's leadership over the army, building the political strength and spirit of the army to ensure the complete victory of the resistance war against French colonialism.

During the resistance wars against France and the US, the Academy trained tens of thousands of political cadres to serve the requirements of army building and the cause of national liberation.

Director of the Academy of Politics, Lieutenant General Nguyen Dinh Minh said that in the current period of building and defending the Fatherland, the Academy has focused on innovating the model, goals, content and training methods towards standardization and modernization to improve the quality of training of political cadres.

The Academy has regularly promoted scientific activities and achieved important achievements, not only serving to improve the quality of education, training, and building the Academy, but also contributing to providing scientific arguments to promptly serve the leadership and direction of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense in the fields of military, politics, national liberation struggle and national defense, and political army building. Contributing many important issues to the draft documents of the Party's national congress.

At present, the Academy continues to perform well the tasks of training and fostering political cadres in the army; promoting scientific research. In addition to regular tasks, the Academy has helped train cadres for the armies of Laos and Cambodia, contributing to the fulfillment of the noble international duty of our Army.

The Prime Minister assessed that after 65 years of construction and growth, the Academy of Politics has always demonstrated a strong political stance and built a valuable tradition: "Stable and developing, united and disciplined, proactive, creative, overcoming difficulties, completing tasks".

To effectively implement the Homeland Protection Strategy in the new situation, the Prime Minister stated that our Party and State advocate focusing on building the People's Army in a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern direction, building a number of armies and branches to advance straight to modernity.

In particular, the requirement to build a politically strong Army must be given more importance, becoming both a fundamental and urgent issue. Building the Army politically must first of all constantly strengthen the Party's absolute and direct leadership in all aspects over the Army.

To successfully complete the tasks in the new period, worthy of being the leading center for training cadres and scientific research of the Army, the Prime Minister directed the Academy of Politics in training work to continue to thoroughly grasp and well implement the Party and State's guidelines and policies on building the People's Army and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

It is necessary to strengthen the building of a politically strong Army, continue to innovate and improve the quality of political education and ideological orientation for soldiers, and promote the role and effectiveness of Party and political work in the Army.

Continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 37 of the Politburo on theoretical work and research orientation until 2030; promote scientific research, focus on key projects with great influence, with the ability to be widely applied in the military and in society, providing scientific arguments to serve the leadership and direction of the Party and State on military and national defense work.

The Academy also needs to focus on building a strong Party organization in terms of politics, ideology and organization; building a clean and strong Party committee and organization with comprehensive leadership capacity and high fighting strength.

Each student must be an exemplary political officer in military units; combining training with self-training to continuously improve the qualities and abilities of regimental and divisional political commissars, research officers, and lecturers of military social sciences and humanities, becoming "both red and expert" officers, with the capacity for scientific thinking and organizing practical activities, well meeting the requirements of assigned duties and tasks upon graduation./.
