Searching for 8th grade boy who drowned while herding cows
(Baonghean.vn) - Authorities are searching for the body of Nguyen Xuan An (13 years old), residing in Thanh Nho commune (Thanh Chuong), who drowned while herding cows along the Giang river.
On the afternoon of September 8, Nguyen Xuan An went to herd cows at Van beach, on the bank of Giang river in Nho Xuan hamlet, Thanh Nho commune. At about 3:15 p.m., while feeding the cows on the riverbank, he drowned.
After receiving the information, Thanh Nho Commune People's Committee mobilized forces to organize search and rescue, using boats, fishing rods on the river, setting up huts on the riverbank to stand guard...

Due to heavy rain, the river water rose high and flowed fast, making search and rescue operations difficult. As of 6am on September 9, authorities had not yet found An’s body.
It is known that An is currently studying in grade 8 at Nho Hoa Secondary School. His family is poor, his mother is disabled, and is raising a small child alone. For nearly a year now, his mother has gone to the South, and An and his brother are living with their grandmother.
