Quy Hop Court sentenced a man who 'kept' drugs ready to prevent addiction to more than 10 years in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - Luong Van Dao is an addict. After buying drugs from a stranger, he went out with his friends and brought them with him in case of an addiction attack, but before he could use them, he was discovered by the police.
On the afternoon of February 23, at the Community Learning Center of Chau Cuong commune, the People's Court of Quy Hop district opened a mobile trial to try defendant Luong Van Dao (born 1992), residing in Thai Son hamlet, Chau Thai commune, Quy Hop district, for the crime of "Illegal possession of drugs”.
According to the indictment: Luong Van Dao is a drug addict. At around 7:00 p.m. on October 5, 2022, Dao used his mother's motorbike to buy drugs. Dao went through Chau Thanh commune (Quy Hop) to Que Phong district to buy drugs. At around 9:00 p.m. the same day, Dao met an unknown man sitting on a motorbike parked along the road. Dao stopped the motorbike and started a conversation. Through the conversation, Dao asked to buy 2 packages of drugs (pink pills) from this person for 4 million VND. After buying the drugs, Dao returned home and hid the drugs on the side of the road near his house.

At 12 noon on October 6, 2022, Dao took two hidden packages of drugs to hang out with friends in Chau Dinh commune, in case he had an addiction attack.
When he reached the water plant road in Quy Hop town, due to an addiction attack, Dao stopped his car on the side of the road and went down to the bamboo bushes to take out two packages of drugs to prepare to use, but was caught red-handed by the police force, who sealed the evidence...
The investigation agency opened the seal, determined the mass and took samples for examination. After removing the packaging, inside were two polyethylene packages containing pink tablets (suspected to be pink tablets). The first package contained 185 pink tablets, weighing 18.4 grams; the second package contained 193 pink tablets, weighing 19.05 grams. The total mass of the two packages was 37.45 grams.
The conclusion of the forensic examination of the two pink tablets above is that they are drugs (Methamphetamine). The total weight of the pink tablets seized from Luong Van Dao is 37.45 grams.
At the first instance trial, the defendant Dao admitted all of his crimes. Based on the provisions of the Penal Code, aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the People's Court of Quy Hop district sentenced the defendant Luong Van Dao to 10 years and 2 months in prison for illegal possession of narcotics.
