On the morning of September 27, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a criminal trial, the first instance trial of the case of illegal drug trafficking against Xong Ba Sua (born in 1987, residing in Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son district).
According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Nghe An province, on the evening of April 8, 2016, the working group of Na Ngoi Border Guard Station discovered 4 subjects in Ka Noi village (Na Ngoi commune) showing signs of illegal drug trafficking.
During the inspection and arrest, 3 subjects took advantage of the darkness to run away, leaving behind a plastic bag and a flintlock gun. Sua was arrested at the scene. The task force seized evidence of a plastic bag containing 2 heroin cakes, a flintlock gun, a motorbike, and a mobile phone.

During the investigation, Sua confessed that at the end of March 2016, Sua was invited by a group of people including Re, Thuy and a Laotian named Lau Ba Gio to join a drug ring. Sua's main task was to transport these people to trade, and was paid handsomely.
After many times driving motorbikes to carry his accomplices to do transactions, Sua received more than 10 million VND in wages.
On April 8, Sua was asked to transport people to sell drugs with the promise "If caught, Xa will take full responsibility. If not, return the 10 million VND that was taken in advance". Hearing that, Sua nodded in agreement.

Then, Re and Gio took the flintlock gun and went ahead, while Sua drove Xa deeper to the meeting point to sell drugs to Thuy. However, when the border guard task force discovered and arrested Sua, Xa, Re, Gio, and Thuy escaped.
The results of the examination of the two heroin cakes collected at the scene showed 697.74 grams of heroin. The gun collected at the scene was a homemade gun, not a military weapon.
It is known that Sua has had a cleft lip and palate since childhood. His family's circumstances are extremely difficult. At the trial, the defendant Sua confessed honestly, expressed remorse, and asked for a reduced sentence so that he could return home soon to work and support his wife and children. The representative of the People's Procuracy of Nghe An province requested the panel of judges to sentence Sua to life in prison.
After considering the circumstances, the first instance court sentenced Sua to 20 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking.
As for Xa, Re, Gio and Thuy, Nghe An Provincial Police are pursuing them. They will be dealt with later when they are caught.
