General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong receives delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba

On the afternoon of May 24, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received comrade Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera, Secretary of the Cuban Party Central Committee.

Comrade Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera respectfully conveyed the warm regards of Comrade Raul Castro to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam; highly appreciated and expressed admiration for Vietnam's great achievements and valuable experiences in the renovation process over the past 30 years; expressed his belief that Vietnam will continue to gain even greater victories in implementing and carrying out the Resolutions of the 12th National Congress of the Party.

Comrade Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera informed the General Secretary about the results of the third Theoretical Workshop between the two parties, highly appreciating the significance of organizing the theoretical workshop between the two parties, especially in the context of Cuba actively implementing the policy of updating the socio-economic development model.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly welcomed Comrade Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera to visit and work in Vietnam; he said that the visit and participation in the Theoretical Workshop between the two parties, the mutual visits of high-ranking leaders of the two parties and countries as well as the promotion of economic, trade cooperation and people-to-people exchange in recent times are vivid evidence of the exemplary brotherly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and loyal solidarity between the two parties, states and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.

Congratulating the important achievements and steady progress of the Cuban Party, State and people, the General Secretary emphasized that the special relationship between the two parties and two countries, as affirmed by Leader Fidel Castro, "is a symbol of the times", a priceless asset that our two parties and peoples always preserve, protect, cultivate and pass on to future generations.

On the same day, the third Theoretical Workshop between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Cuba with the theme: "Orientation of socio-economic development and political and ideological work tasks in the documents of the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 7th National Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba" ended successfully.

Closing the Workshop, Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Head of the Party delegation attending the Workshop, and Comrade Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera agreed that theoretical workshops between the two parties are very useful and necessary in the current context, helping both sides exchange and share experiences on rich theoretical and practical issues in the process of building socialism in each country.

On the afternoon of May 23, Comrade Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera met with Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburo member, Chairwoman of the National Assembly, former President of the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association.

During the visit and participation in the Theoretical Workshop in Vietnam, the delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba worked with leaders of the Central External Relations Commission, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Communist Magazine, the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade (Vietcombank); visited the National Assembly House, a number of economic and social establishments in Hanoi and Vinh Phuc./.
