Vinh City has a recurrence of African swine fever, destroying a record number of pigs.
(Baonghean.vn) - Less than a month after the epidemic was declared over, Vinh City has been re-invaded by African swine fever. It is worth noting that the epidemic is currently developing very complicatedly after a relapse.
On the morning of September 16, Vinh City and Nghi Kim Commune authorities destroyed the pigs of two households, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chinh and Ms. Tran Thi Hiep in Hamlet 10, after the Veterinary Department confirmed that the pigs of Mr. Chinh and Ms. Hiep's families tested positive for African swine fever.

The total number of pigs destroyed by the two families was 64, with a total weight of 5,040 kg. Of which, Mr. Chinh's family was the household with a record number of pigs destroyed in the city with 54 pigs, with a total weight of 4,298 kg, nearly half of the total weight of pigs destroyed during the recent epidemic in the whole city (10,049 kg).

Previously, Nghi Kim commune destroyed 4 pigs of Mr. Bui Xuan Hoang's family (village 1) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuong's (village 4) also due to this dangerous disease.
It is worth mentioning that African swine fever is currently developing very complicatedly in Vinh City since the re-epidemic. Up to now, there are 7 wards and communes affected by the epidemic, of which 4 localities have re-epidemic: Vinh Tan, Hung Dong, Nghi Kim, Nghi Lien and 3 localities have discovered new outbreaks: Cua Nam, Hung Chinh, Dong Vinh.

Thus, the entire northern and western areas of the city have now been invaded by African swine fever.
We are focusing on isolating the epidemic area and at the same time directing the communes with the epidemic to strictly implement the anti-epidemic plans according to the instructions. For the wards and communes that have not had the epidemic, the city has raised the warning level to the highest level to propagate to the people and local authorities to raise the spirit of epidemic prevention, avoiding widespread spread.
