(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Police coordinated with relevant units to simultaneously inspect confectionery products at business kiosks around schools and wholesale markets in the area; tightened the work of ensuring food hygiene and safety, security and order.
In response to information circulating on social networks that in border provinces, there is a type of candy printed with foreign characters that causes poisoning for students and contains drugs, Nghe An Provincial Police has directed professional departments, police units and localities to strengthen the work of grasping the situation and handling cases related to confectionery products of unknown origin, not ensuring food hygiene and safety, to protect the rights and health of the people.
During 2 days (November 30 and December 1, 2023), Vinh City Police coordinated with functional forces to grasp the situation and simultaneously launched inspections of business kiosks in the area around schools and wholesale markets in the area.

After inspecting 63 kiosks, the authorities discovered 32 kiosks in violation and seized nearly 5,000 confectionery products of unknown origin. These products have attractive packaging and colors, low prices, and are easy to attract children and students. However, these products do not have labels and are of unknown origin, causing food safety and hygiene problems.
Up to now, through inspection and testing, no drugs have been detected in these products.

In addition to strengthening the inspection, seizure and strict handling of food safety violations, especially violations of trading in counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, and those that do not ensure food safety at stalls, grocery stores, kiosks, markets, etc., especially at school gates by the authorities, Vinh City Police recommends that schools and parents regularly propagate and remind students not to buy or use confectionery products of unknown origin, pay attention to reminding children to eat at home before going to class, and not to eat snacks at the school gate to ensure health and food hygiene and safety.
