Awarding the President's Letter of Merit and the Provincial People's Committee's Certificate of Merit to the Chairman of the Commune Veterans Association for rescuing a drowning person

At the program, comrade Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Emulation and Commendation Council, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, Head of the Provincial Emulation and Commendation Board, under the order of the President and authorized by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presented the Letter of Merit of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the Certificate of Merit of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung to Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien - Chairman of the Veterans Association of Thanh Hoa commune, Thanh Chuong district.

Previously, on the afternoon of April 24, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien took his buffalo to the Giang River to bathe when he discovered 3 young men drowning in the middle of the river. As soon as he discovered the incident, Mr. Hien immediately swam into the river to save them. After bringing 2 young men safely to shore, the third young man was swept away. Mr. Hien continued to struggle with the water and saved them, but the young man was unconscious.

To save the young man, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien had to perform CPR and first aid. Thanks to that, all three young men were fortunately saved. The three young men were Le Van Hien (24 years old), Nguyen Quang Dat (17 years old), a local, and Le Van Tuan (23 years old), from Nghia Dan district.

In response to Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien's valuable actions, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter of commendation and presented him with a meaningful gift.

The letter of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated: "I highly appreciate Mr. Hien's actions. This is a shining example of the spirit of courage, chivalry, deep cultural identity, love, and living with love and meaning of the Vietnamese people. It deserves to be praised, rewarded, and spread in the community.

I believe that Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien as well as generations of Veterans will always try to promote the glorious, pioneering, exemplary qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers", do a good job of educating patriotic and revolutionary traditions, and actively contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland".

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province also directed the relevant agencies to promptly commend and reward Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien. On April 27, 2022, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province Nguyen Duc Trung issued Decision No. 1125/QD-UBND on awarding a Certificate of Merit to Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien.

At the program, Mr. Nguyen Huu Hien - Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Commune Veterans Association expressed his deep gratitude to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung and the departments and branches. At the same time, he promised to continue to promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, strive in work, and contribute to the cause of developing his homeland and country./.
