Over 92 billion VND donated to the "For the Poor" Fund in 2018 in Nghe An

Comrade Nguyen Van Huy - Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee chaired the meeting. Also attending were representatives of the members of the "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee and the Provincial Relief Committee.

Implementing the Appeal Letter of the Provincial Party Secretary and the Mobilization Plan of the "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Board, on the occasion of Tet 2018, the Provincial "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Board received over 64.9 billion VND in money and goods to take care of the poor during Tet Mau Tuat; reaching 106% of the registration. Currently, the Board has allocated 63.81 billion VND to 100,809 households, reaching 98%.

Also in 2018, the "For the Poor" Fund mobilized over 27 billion VND/plan of 18 billion, of which the district fund was over 11 billion, the provincial fund was over 2 billion and the commune fund was over 13 billion. From the above source, in 2018, the whole province focused on supporting the construction of 672 new houses with an amount of over 14 billion VND, repairing 344 solidarity houses with an amount of over 2 billion VND; in addition, supporting poor households with medical examination and treatment, poor students to excel in their studies and develop sustainable production...

Regarding relief, during the year, the Fund mobilized and received goods and money worth over 14 billion VND, and allocated and spent over 11.2 billion VND for the beneficiaries.

In addition to evaluating the results achieved in 2018, at the meeting, representatives of some departments and branches, members of the Mobilization Committee, also frankly raised some shortcomings and limitations, from which the Standing Committee of the Mobilization Committee for the "For the Poor" Fund and Provincial Relief had solutions to advise and propose solutions.

According to the Mobilization Committee, by the end of 2018, Nghe An had about 53,500 poor households, accounting for 5.54%, of which nearly 9,500 poor households were in extremely difficult circumstances (these households were mainly in mountainous districts and border areas, the number of near-poor households and the risk of falling back into poverty was still high). Therefore, on this occasion, along with mobilizing resources to take care of the Lunar New Year for the poor and providing emergency relief, the province needs to develop a long-term mobilization plan to supplement the annual "For the Poor" Fund.

On the basis of listening to the additional comments of the members of the Provincial Mobilization and Relief Committee, Comrade Nguyen Van Huy - Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee accepted the additional comments of the members; at the same time, agreed on a number of key tasks in 2019.

Accordingly, in the immediate future, the Mobilization Committee of the "For the Poor" Fund and the "Provincial Relief" Fund will focus on implementing the program of launching Tet For the Poor Ky Hoi - 2019 according to the Appeal Letter of the Provincial Party Secretary; continue to have proposals to resolve the fund surplus in localities, at the same time strengthen propaganda and mobilization to spread typical examples of collectives and individuals actively helping the poor and typical examples of efforts to improve their lives./.
