(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 19, in Vinh City (Nghe An), Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 4 held a conference to summarize the implementation of the Project to search for and collect martyrs' remains and the Project to identify martyrs' remains with missing information in the period 2013 - 2020.
Major General Tran Quoc Dung - Director of the General Department of Politics, Chief of Office of the National Steering Committee 515 attended and directed the conference; Major General Nguyen Duc Hoa - Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Region, Head of the Military Region's Steering Committee 515 chaired the conference.

Over the years, the work of searching, collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information has always been thoroughly grasped and actively, synchronously and effectively implemented by all levels, sectors, units and localities in Military Region 4. Notably, leadership, direction, guidance and coordination in implementation have been strengthened; information and propaganda work has been promoted; active review and completion of dossiers and lists of martyrs have been carried out; local conclusions have been drawn up, maps have been made for searching and collecting the remains of martyrs; surveys, searches and collections have been organized with good results; defense diplomacy has been promoted, and coordination has been coordinated to help the people of Laos develop their economy and society; and storm and flood prevention, natural disasters and epidemics have been prevented where units perform their tasks, contributing to further building the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

From 2013 to 2020, despite many difficulties, especially the Covid-19 pandemic that occurred in the country and in Laos in 2020, units and localities have made great efforts to overcome difficulties to complete the set goals and plans, ensuring absolute safety. The entire Military Region has searched for and collected 2,766 martyrs' remains, of which 1,620 were in Laos and 1,146 were in the country; collected 5,702 biological samples for DNA testing; and identified information by empirical methods at 342 martyrs' graves. The results achieved have profound political and social significance, partially meeting the wishes of relatives and families of martyrs.

In carrying out the work of searching, collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information in the period of 2021 - 2030, Military Region 4 continues to thoroughly grasp the Party and State's policies and guidelines on the work of searching, collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information; strengthen leadership, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of State management; synchronously deploy groups of solutions, promote propaganda, actively collect information; complete the review, complete the records and lists of martyrs, create a map to search and collect the remains of martyrs; strive to basically complete the search and collection of martyrs' remains in the Military Region and 10 provinces of Laos, which are undertaken by Military Region 4.

On this occasion, the Military Region 4 Command awarded Certificates of Merit to 36 groups and 38 individuals of the Military Region 4 and cadres, people and military of the Lao People's Democratic Republic for their outstanding achievements in carrying out the task of searching, collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information in the period 2013 - 2020; awarded Certificates of Merit to 1 group and 2 individuals with outstanding achievements in carrying out the task of searching and collecting the remains of martyrs in Tan Xa village, Ba Long commune, Dakrong district, Quang Tri province./.
