Vinh University exchanges cooperation agreement with Waikato University, New Zealand
(Baonghean.vn) - Vinh University and Waikato University have just exchanged cooperation agreements between the two sides in the field of education and training within the framework of the visit and work with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in New Zealand.
From March 4 to March 12, 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended the Special Summit to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations and paid official visits to Australia and New Zealand.

Within the framework of the program, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Australian Minister of Education Anthony Chisholm, leaders of a number of Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities and more than 30 Australian and Vietnamese higher education institutions participated in the Vietnam - Australia Higher Education Cooperation Forum.
At this forum, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang - Rector of Vinh University had discussions with representatives of universities in Australia and domestic universities to seek effective international cooperation models as well as cooperation opportunities between Vinh University and universities in Australia to promote international cooperation, increase opportunities for students to enjoy advanced training programs, cultural exchanges, and cooperation and exchange of experiences in scientific research.

During his official visit to New Zealand on March 10, 2024, in Auckland, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Prof. Dr. Neil Quigley - President of Waikato University and President of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
On this occasion, under the witness of the Prime Minister, Vinh University and Waikato University signed a cooperation agreement between the two sides in the field of education and training.

As one of New Zealand's eight most innovative and flexible public universities, the University of Waikato is currently ranked 266th in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2019; in the top 1% of business schools worldwide and accredited by three international accreditation bodies: AACSB, AQUIS and AMBA.

With the cooperation agreement between Vinh University and Wakaito University, in addition to student exchange activities, Vinh University hopes that Wakaito University will support and advise in building and perfecting the school's development strategy, meeting international criteria to realize the Vision."ranking in the top 500 universities in Asia by 2030, aiming for the top 1,000 universities in the world by 2045"In addition, the two sides also wish to implement 2+2, 3+1 training programs... in programs in priority areas of the Vietnamese Government to contribute to the country's rapid and sustainable development in the coming period.
On July 18, 2023, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW on "Building and developing Nghe An to 2030, with a vision to 2045". On October 4, 2023, the Government also issued Resolution No. 162/NQ-CP on the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW. Accordingly, the Party and the Government have oriented"focus on investing and developing Vinh University to become a prestigious training center in the region and the world".
To realize the above goal, in 2024, the Government officially allocated medium-term public investment capital for the period 2021 - 2025 to build facilities for Vinh University with a total cost of nearly 800 billion VND. The school has also been building a development strategy for each stage to gradually affirm its position and brand in international forums. Among these, international cooperation activities, connections in training, scientific research, professional and academic exchanges with major universities in the world are some of the important steps.
