“Creating capacity” in learners

With its predecessor being a university specializing in education, after 59 years of construction and development, Vinh University has developed in a multi-level and multi-disciplinary direction.

Currently, the school has 54 undergraduate training majors, 37 master's training majors and 16 doctoral training majors with over 40,000 students, trainees and postgraduates.

The model of specialized high schools and pedagogical practice schools is increasingly developed, prestigious, and accepted by society.

At the ceremony, Professor, Dr., Meritorious Teacher Dinh Xuan Khoa - Principal of the school spent a lot of time in his speech discussing the position and requirements of teachers in the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution.

“I believe and hope that teachers will always innovate themselves, to be both an inspiration for learners and a motivator of creativity, a trainer for students to find their own freedom and unique characteristics in cognitive activities,” said Professor Dinh Xuan Khoa, emphasizing the need for teachers to be “creators of capacity” in learners.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Thanh Quy congratulated the school's achievements, and affirmed that the Party Committee and people of the province recognized the great contributions and expressed deep gratitude to generations of teachers, staff and students of the school who have contributed their efforts, enthusiasm and intelligence to the development of the country in general and Nghe An in particular.

Focus on developing ethics, vision, capacity and skills for learners

Discussing the requirements in the context of integration and development of the country as well as Nghe An province, especially the requirements for human resources, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Thanh Quy said that it is forecasted that from now until 2020, the province will need about 120,000 high-quality technical workers to serve the development process.

On that basis, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee raised a number of contents for the school to study and implement; accordingly, the school was requested to continue to focus on innovation and improve the quality of training in key fields in the direction of multi-disciplinary development, especially pedagogy - the strength that has created the reputation of Vinh University, aiming to become a center for training high-quality teachers in the country, especially the team of integrated teachers; at the same time, focus on developing applied vocational training on the basis of meeting the needs of society.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the school to promote and improve the effectiveness of scientific research activities to contribute to improving the qualifications of the teaching staff and the reputation of the school, and to arouse students' passion for scientific creativity.

In particular, Vinh University needs to continue to strengthen output quality management associated with assessment and recognition from society, employers, and partners.

“Focus on developing moral qualities, vision, capacity, skills and increasing employability of graduates,” the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Thanh Quy presented a flower basket from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province to congratulate Vinh University on the 36th anniversary of Vietnam Teachers' Day.

The Organizing Committee also announced the President's decisions to award the Second Class Labor Medal to Prof. Dr. Meritorious Teacher Dinh Xuan Khoa - Rector of Vinh University and the Third Class Labor Medal to the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vinh University. On behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Thai Thanh Quy, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presented the above noble titles to individuals and groups of Vinh University.

On this occasion, 3 individuals of Vinh University were honored to receive Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, 2 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; 4 individuals received Commemorative Medals for the Cause of Education; 2 individuals were awarded the 40-year Party membership badge and 1 individual was awarded the 30-year Party membership badge.
