School of Economics - Vinh University strives to become the leading prestigious training institution in the North Central region.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 12, the School of Economics - Vinh University held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its founding (2003 - 2023).
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the National Assembly Office, the Ministry of Education and Training, Military Region IV and representatives of departments and branches of the provinces: Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Tay Ninh.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were also representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee; provincial departments, branches and sectors; representatives of leaders of organizations and enterprises in the province, along with the participation of teachers, officials, civil servants, students and pupils of the school through generations.
Training more than 1,500 masters, 16,500 bachelors of economics
In February 2003, the Minister of Education and Training signed the Decision to establish the Faculty of Economics, the predecessor of today's School of Economics, and was allowed to enroll the first Business Administration major (Course 44).
Implementing the restructuring policy of Vinh University, from September 2021, the School of Economics under Vinh University was established on the basis of reorganizing the training units of the Faculty of Economics. This is an important event marking a new step of development and opening up great opportunities along with significant challenges for the school in the development process.
After 20 years of construction and development, on a journey of many hardships, challenges but also full of glory, the School of Economics - Vinh University has always been aware of the very important significance of training activities in meeting the demand for high-quality human resources for the economic sector of Nghe An in particular and the North Central region in general. Since then, the Board of Directors as well as the staff of the School of Economics have always attached great importance to the work of building and developing training programs, ensuring output quality as well as improving the quality of the school's teaching staff.
This is demonstrated by the fact that from only 3 main subjects taught in the first academic year (2003-2004), the School now has 4 faculties with 7 regular university training majors including: Accounting, Business Administration, High-quality Business Administration, E-commerce, Economics (majoring in Investment Economics, Economic Management), Finance - Banking (majoring in Corporate Finance, Commercial Banking) and Digital Economy.
Not only providing full-time university training, the School also provides part-time, distance learning, second degree and short-term certificate training such as Chief Accountant, General Accountant, Marketing, Business Startup certificates... Up to now, the School has provided the country with more than 1,500 masters and 16,500 bachelors of economics.
At the same time, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors always pay attention to the work of training and improving the quality of the teaching staff, considering it a key task that determines the success or failure of the training career. Every year, the School of Economics sends dozens of staff to study for doctoral and master's degrees domestically and abroad. In 2023, the proportion of lecturers with the title of associate professor - senior lecturer is 7.7%, and lecturers with a doctoral degree is 64%.
With the tireless efforts of the school, over the past 20 years, the School of Economics has been highly appreciated and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training, Nghe An province and Vinh University through its achievements: Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training; Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province; the title of Excellent Labor Collective, Excellent Advanced Labor for many years.
Delivering the speech at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Thai Thi Kim Oanh - Principal of the School of Economics - Vinh University emphasized that this is an opportunity to express gratitude to generations of the School's Board of Directors, lecturers and staff who have always accompanied and completed all assigned tasks. In addition, the school has also received much attention and encouragement from the leaders of Nghe An province and Vinh University - which has always been a support and motivation for teachers and students of the School of Economics to develop and grow.
To become the leading training unit in the North Central region
Speaking at the Ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang - President of Vinh University acknowledged and evaluated the contributions and efforts of the School of Economics over the past 20 years. This is most clearly demonstrated through the achievements that the school's teachers and students have achieved. Most recently (2022), 3 scientific research topics of students entered the final round, of which 2 topics won Second Prize and 1 topic won Third Prize at the Ministry level in the field of Social Sciences.
The President of Vinh University also set high expectations for the School of Economics. Because in Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the goals to 2030, with a vision to 2045, it clearly stated 5 tasks and solutions to build and develop Nghe An province commensurate with its position, role, importance and worthy of being the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh. In which, task and solution No. 5 clearly stated "focusing on investing in developing Vinh University to become a prestigious training center in the region and the world". The President of Vinh University hopes that the School of Economics will be a bright spot in the development project that Vinh University will complete in 2024.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, the School of Economics - Vinh University was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training.
In addition, the School of Economics and some outstanding individuals also received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province for their contributions to education.
