Warm friendship

Vilath Duangdet, from Xieng Khouang province (Laos) - President of the Lao and Thai Students Association at Vinh University shared: Studying at Vinh University for 4 years is a time when I have experienced many new, intimate and profound things, from studying to exchanging and learning with fellow countrymen, Thai students, and especially teachers and Vietnamese students.

The Lao-Thai International Student Association studying at Vinh University currently has 300 members (including 255 Lao students). In November 2019, there will be more than 40 Lao students preparing to enroll. Currently, among the Lao students at Vinh University, there are 35 people studying for their master's degrees, mainly in Law and Economics.

Vilath shared that each school year that passes, he experiences many new things. The most impressive and touching thing for him is the Bunpimay festival organized by teachers and friends right at Vinh University.

Bunpimay Festival from April 13 to 16 every year is the most important holiday of Lao people. This is the occasion for Lao families to reunite and have fun with relatives and neighbors. However, during the 4 years studying at Vinh University, Vilath never felt lonely or lost because he always received warm affection from friends and teachers.

Vilath said, “The teachers are always attentive and enthusiastic in helping us international students. In addition, Vietnamese students are very friendly and always share with international students in both study and life. Vinh University has very good facilities, we feel satisfied with the conditions we enjoy in study and life”. The Laotian boy with a friendly smile also expressed: “Vinh University is a second home for me and my international students”.

Grown up from clubs and groups

Third-year student Le Quynh Trang – K58, Law major has a slim figure and a cheerful face. Sharing about her days studying at Vinh University, Quynh Trang is always impressed and silently grateful for the student clubs and groups that she has been given the opportunity to participate in. Trang said that as a Law student, a career that requires not only solid professional knowledge, but also many skills.

At the beginning of her studies, Quynh Trang was somewhat overwhelmed by the learning atmosphere at this school. The new student wondered whether she could keep up with the pace of studying and the vibrant activities at the school. However, the initial confusion quickly passed when Trang was given favorable conditions by her teachers, seniors and classmates, and guided through her studies enthusiastically, especially by participating in clubs and groups. By her third year, Trang had become an active member of many clubs such as: Law Practice Club, English Club (LEC), Singing Club, Law Faculty's Shock Team, Student Volunteer Team, etc.

Quynh Trang said, “Joining clubs and groups has encouraged my spirit of learning and activities, especially English. Participating in the English club has helped to stimulate my love and passion for learning English. That has significantly improved my English level, helping me to confidently excel in my studies and practice.”

Confident after graduation

This is the confident sharing of Phan Thi Anh Duong, a final year student of class 57A2 Primary Education, Faculty of Education, Vinh University.

When asked about the basis for this assertion, Anh Duong said: Although the school's 57th course has not yet applied the new CDIO training program, students of the Faculty of Education have experienced and enjoyed this program.

Unlike previous generations of pedagogical students who had to wait until their third or fourth year to be exposed to the pedagogical environment at the grassroots level, Anh Duong and her classmates practiced in high schools from their first year.

Anh Duong still remembers the first year participating in conducting a ceremony at Trung Do Primary School (Vinh City). At first, Duong was very nervous, but thanks to the teacher's careful instructions and the encouragement and support of the school's teachers, Duong completed his role well. From that day on, Anh Duong was no longer shy or embarrassed when practicing at schools.

Anh Duong said that she and her friends have enjoyed the best conditions for learning professional knowledge and improving skills, and practicing pedagogy in reality. Students often go to educational institutions to learn, experience and practice the knowledge and skills needed for their major. In addition to studying, Anh Duong is also a class monitor, President of the Student Union of the Faculty of Education with more than 1,600 students. The learning experiences and group activities over the past time have helped Duong confidently assert herself and foster her passion for the profession.

In the joyful atmosphere towards the 60th anniversary of the school's founding, like many other students, the heart of the final year student Phan Thi Anh Duong is filled with emotions: "Love, respect, honor, pride". For Duong, "the knowledge acquired and the beautiful memories of her student days at the school named Vinh University will be the luggage to help her confidently walk on the path she has chosen".

Originally a student of Vinh University High School for the Gifted, then continued to study at Vinh University, so for Nguyen Cam Hoai Thu - Class President of Class K58 - English Pedagogy, "this school is my second home and the teachers and friends are my second family".

The third-year student shared: Vinh University is the place that preserves the most beautiful things of my "school days and then my university years". I am always proud of my school with rich traditions. Here, we are not only equipped with knowledge and trained in skills, but also get to participate in exciting and useful Youth Union - Association movements, especially volunteer activities for the community such as summer teaching at SOS Children's Village or activities to help new students. That helps me become more mature, understand what it means to "live to give, not just receive".

In fact, not only has Nguyen Cam Hoai Thu achieved the title of excellent student, excellent student, she has also received many Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit from the Youth Union and Student Association of Vinh University for her outstanding achievements in the work of the Union and youth movement. In addition, this female student with a radiant smile also won the Second Prize in the Pedagogical Proficiency Competition of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. That is the motivation for Hoai Thu to continue to strive in studying and training, worthy of being a student of the school with a 60-year tradition in the land of learning in Nghe An.

For Nguyen Chi Bao, a third-year student of the high-quality class 58A of Mathematics Pedagogy (Institute of Natural Education), Vinh University is “a place that has given me the motivation and confidence to pursue my dream”. Bao shared that in the past, his friends often said that he had no talent for teaching, so he decided to choose the Mathematics Pedagogy major at Vinh University, a school with a long history of teaching, to prove himself.

During his studies and training at school, Bao realized that "when you believe in something and persevere with your goals, you will achieve success". With the guidance of his teachers, Bao has achieved many academic achievements, received the Odon Vallet scholarship, and won second prize in the National Student Math Olympiad. In addition, Bao has also been tutored and guided by teachers in scientific research, practice, experiments, and professional internships. He is currently being given the opportunity to participate in a research group on a scientific topic related to physics at the Institute of Natural Education.

Bao shared: My goal after graduation is to win a scholarship to study abroad and the knowledge gained from the emulation movement "Innovation and creativity in teaching and learning" during my years of studying at Vinh University has helped me to be more confident on the path to conquering my dreams and conquering knowledge. For Chu Thi Hai Yen - Class monitor of class 57A Chemistry Pedagogy (Institute of Natural Education), the 4 years of studying at Vinh University are unforgettable impressions. Initially, when the female student majoring in Chemistry Phan Boi Chau chose to take the entrance exam to Vinh University, not many people supported her, but Yen was still confident in her decision. And "up to now, I see that my choice was completely correct. Because this is an ideal training environment.
