Sentencing of the subject who destroyed more than 53,000 m2 of production forest

On September 15, the People's Court of Con Cuong district opened a trial for the case of "Forest Destruction" that occurred in January 2021 in Binh Chuan commune, Con Cuong district.

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Con Cuong district, from January 4, 2021 to January 12, 2021, defendant Tran Dinh Loi (born in 1982), residing in Na Co village, Binh Chuan commune, Con Cuong district, hired a number of people in Na Co village, Binh Chuan commune, Con Cuong district, to illegally cut down 53,220 m2 of "production forest" in lots 81, 84, 89, 76, 92 of land plot 301, plot 10, sub-area 734, Khe Xai area, belonging to Na Co village, Binh Chuan commune.

This area was approved by the People's Committee of Nghe An province for functional planning as a production forest, but Loi hired people to cut down the forest in order to...occupy production landCon Cuong Forest Ranger Department discovered and recorded on the spot that the total forest area that Tran Dinh Loi illegally cut down was more than 53,220 m2.

Con Cuong District People's Court sentenced Tran Dinh Loi to 3 years in prison with a suspended sentence, probation period of 5 years for the crime of "Forest Destruction".

Previously in 2003, Tran Dinh Loi was sentenced by Thanh Chuong District People's Court to 9 months in prison with a suspended sentence, probation period of 18 months for the crime of "Theft of property".
