Hoang Mai Town strives to become a type III urban area before 2025.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Vietnam Urban Planning Association and the People's Committee of Hoang Mai town.

Attending the workshop were Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh - Chairman of Vietnam Urban Planning Association; Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien - Former Director of Vietnam Economic Institute and experts and scientists in the field of architecture and planning in the country.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, comrade Hoang Viet Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and representatives of a number of departments and branches.

Hoang Mai town was established in 2013, with an area of ​​170 km², population over 108 thousand people. Currently, Hoang Mai town is a type IV urban area, with an urbanization rate of over 50%, the northern growth pole of Nghe An province.

Hoang Mai Town is one of the three growth poles, creating momentum for socio-economic development in Nghe An province, and is identified by the Government as a driving force for the Nam Thanh - Bac Nghe region. According to the roadmap, Hoang Mai Town strives to achieve the criteria of a type III urban area by 2020 and be recognized as a type III urban area before 2025.

Speaking at the workshop, experts and scientists proposed many solutions to build Hoang Mai into a dynamic, green, clean and beautiful urban area; striving to become a type 3 urban area by 2025.

At the same time, analyze the challenges of urban dispersion, future environmental pollution, competition between cities... especially when Hoang Mai town is closely linked to Nghi Son Economic Zone (Thanh Hoa).

Dr. Ha Van Le - Chairman of Nghe An Urban Planning and Development Association said: In order for Hoang Mai town to become a sustainable green urban area by 2025, first of all, it is necessary to develop the economy in the direction of an industrial - commercial - service and tourism urban economic structure, in which the main structure is industry; there must be solutions to sustainably protect the ecological environment; and build quality of life for the community.

Ms. Tran Thu Hang, Director of the Department of Architectural Planning - Ministry of Construction commented: After 5 years of establishment, Hoang Mai Town has had quite rapid and stable development. However, in order for the locality to develop strongly in the field of investment attraction, Hoang Mai Town needs to exploit the potential advantages of the locality's location and terrain; there must be a strong breakthrough in administrative reform and investment attraction.

"Hoang Mai town needs to strengthen its role, position and regional relationships; complete the infrastructure network; promote industrial development and tourism services; plan urban development towards green and smart growth..." - Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Planning Association, commented.

Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh said that Hoang Mai town has advantages in natural resources, rich in cultural and historical traditions. This is a necessary and sufficient condition to build Hoang Mai not only as an industrial center, but also as an eco-tourism and resort center. Therefore, Nghe An province needs to soon direct the establishment of a master plan for the general tourism development of the province and the Nam Thanh - Bac Nghe region.

Speaking at the workshop, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the results that Hoang Mai Town has achieved in the past 5 years, demonstrating the remarkable development of a young urban area. The growth rate is 3 times higher than the first year of the town's establishment, the economic structure has shifted in the right direction, and the budget revenue has been quite good.

The urban transport system and other technical infrastructures are developed and improved. Along with that, urban planning is paid attention to, becoming one of the key economic zones of the province. Tourism services are increasingly interested; the cultural and social fields are increasingly improved, people's lives are increasingly improved...

It is a matter of pride that the children of Hoang Mai town who are studying and working at home and abroad always turn towards and build their homeland.

In order for Hoang Mai Town to develop further, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested: Based on the local advantages, the town needs to pay attention to planning in the right direction, with a long-term vision. Utilize many capital sources to focus on building technical infrastructure, in which priority is given to essential infrastructure.

Continue to do well in site clearance and investment attraction; exploit the town's resources to the fullest. Focus on promoting administrative reform to serve people and businesses, attract investment; need to strengthen security, social order and safety so that investors can feel secure in investing in projects./.
