Advantages of the first outdoor melon growing model in Western Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - The first outdoor melon growing model in Thai Hoa town, with 100% investment in costs and technical processes by the local Plant Protection Station, has proven successful.
On an area of over 2,500 square meters of land owned by a household in Block 4, Long Son Ward, Thai Hoa Plant Protection Station has proactively coordinated to plant over 7,000 melon trees.
The time of planting is also the time when the whole Nghe An province is suffering from intense heat. However, thanks to the investment in an irrigation system drawn from the nearby Hieu River, up to this point, that is, after nearly 40 days of planting, the model is showing many advantages compared to indoor-grown melons.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung, Head of the Plant Protection Station of Thai Hoa Town, said: This is the first outdoor melon growing model in Thai Hoa. Thanks to appropriate investment and application of techniques according to the instructions of technical staff, the melons have high productivity, estimated to be double that of melons grown indoors.
Especially when grown at high temperatures, pests find it difficult to develop, and all stages are carried out manually, so quality is guaranteed. This is a model that comes from the flexibility and creativity of the Plant Protection Station to help farmers access new varieties.
The family of Ms. Vi Thi Ha in Block 4, Long Son Ward, Thai Hoa Town is a household that directly cooperates with the Town Plant Protection Station in implementing the model. It is known that previously, this area of the family could not grow anything due to many difficulties. However, when implementing the planting of melons, it brought many surprises.
Ms. Vi Thi Ha said: All the care steps are normal, because of the hot weather, pests cannot survive, I just take care of watering and weeding. The melon plants grow well, produce large, even fruits, so we are very happy.
