This morning (April 8), at the National Assembly House, the National Assembly Standing Committee held an extraordinary meeting. At the request of the Government, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave its opinion on measures to support people facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic proposed by the Government. These are important and urgent issues that need to be decided and implemented promptly in the current situation.

Extraordinary session of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

In her opening speech, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that since entering the "war" against the Covid-19 pandemic, the guiding ideology and motto of "fighting the pandemic like fighting the enemy" has been determined and resolutely and persistently implemented throughout. Responding to the call of the General Secretary and President, the entire political system of our country has resolutely joined in, united, and agreed to well implement the anti-pandemic measures proposed by the Government and the National Steering Committee with a high determination to proactively prevent the epidemic nationwide, effectively control the spread, and best protect the health and lives of the people. Thanks to that, despite being in a period with many potential complex risks, a high level of spread, and increasingly unpredictable developments, we still recorded many positive signals such as: the number of new infections initially decreased, the number of patients cured increased, etc.

This is a very proud result of ours that has been highly appreciated by WHO and many countries around the world; at the same time, it once again affirms the correct policies and guidelines of the Party and State, the drastic and effective direction and management of the Government and Prime Minister; the consensus and joint efforts of the entire political system, medical staff, armed forces, business community and people of all walks of life; the response and strict compliance of compatriots nationwide as well as foreigners in Vietnam, including the mobilization of National Assembly deputies and voters nationwide to seriously and effectively implement anti-epidemic measures.

On behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the Government's proactive and drastic measures in preventing and fighting the epidemic as well as paying attention to the issues of stabilizing production, business, social security, ensuring people's lives... which were noted by the National Assembly Standing Committee at the 43rd Session. In particular, the introduction of policies and measures to support people and businesses to overcome difficulties reported at today's session further demonstrated the spirit of "no one is left behind" of our Party and State.

In the context of many difficulties in our country, the development and promulgation of direct and timely support policies demonstrate the great efforts of the Party and State in caring for the people's lives. In the immediate future, it will bring peace of mind to the people, contribute to solving some difficulties and hardships in the context of the epidemic, increase the people's trust in the Party and State to unite, persevere, and be determined to defeat the epidemic as well as continue to participate in the country's socio-economic development.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan speaks at the meeting.

After the policies are issued, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that sectors and levels need to be proactive, organize immediate and effective implementation to ensure timely support to the people, minimize the "delay" of the policies when they come into life; at the same time, it is necessary to strengthen inspection, supervision and monitoring to avoid negative phenomena, policy profiteering or lack of transparency in the implementation.

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly also hopes that the promulgation of these policies will continue and spread more strongly the spirit of "mutual love and support" in the social community. From there, it will continue to arouse noble gestures and compassion in society towards volunteer activities to share and help compatriots who are still in difficulty during the fight against the epidemic as well as after the epidemic ends, promoting the precious tradition of "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves", "the less torn leaves cover the more torn leaves" from thousands of years ago of the Vietnamese people.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic still faces many difficulties, but with the strength of solidarity and the determination to win of the entire nation, the National Assembly Chairman believes that Vietnam will quickly push back the epidemic./.
