Jailed for stealing civets and Dong Tao chickens
Tra On District People's Court (Vinh Long) has just held a mobile trial in Thoi Hoa commune of Phan Thanh Trung (born 1983), Le Van Nhi (born 1988), Nguyen Be Nam (born 1990), Nguyen Chi Khai (born 1981) for theft of property and consumption of property obtained by others through crime.

According to the records, on September 6, 2015, Trung, Nam, and Nhi stole two civets and five Dong Tao chickens (total value of 19.6 million VND) from a local resident. Although they knew that the two civets were stolen by Trung's group from someone else, Khai still bought them for 3.5 million VND. During the investigation, Trung's group also confessed that they had previously stolen Dong Tao chickens, royal chickens, red pheasants, pythons, and oranges from local residents. The total value of the assets stolen by Trung's group was more than 28 million VND.
At the trial, the defendants all admitted to their crimes. The court sentenced Trung to three years in prison, Nam to two years and six months in prison, Nhi to one year and six months in prison for theft, and Khai to six months in prison for receiving property obtained through criminal acts.
