Borrow money from the bank to trade… drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - Duong confessed that in order to have money to buy drugs, he mortgaged his car to the bank to borrow money. When his drug trafficking was exposed, Duong and two accomplices were sentenced to life in prison.
On May 25, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a trial for 3 defendants: Va Pa De (born 1979), residing in Tri Le commune, Que Phong district (Nghe An), Tran Quoc Duong (born 1981) and Bui Van Thang (born 1960), both residing in Hai Phong city, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
The case file shows that, through a friend, Bui Van Thang knew that Que Phong district had a source of cheap drugs, so he invited Tran Quoc Duong to go buy them.
On the afternoon of March 8, 2022, Quang drove a car carrying Thang from Hai Phong to Nghe An to buy drugs. To make it easier to go to the village to meet the drug dealer, Quang bought a motorbike and put it on a pickup truck.
The next afternoon, Duong met with Va Pa De to discuss the drug trade. After reaching an agreement, the group returned to Hai Phong to wait for the day to receive the “goods”.

After that, De contacted the Laotians to order drugs to sell to customers. On March 17, De informed the buyer that he had the "goods" and told Duong to bring money to Nghe An to make the transaction. However, when the buyer arrived, De canceled the transaction because he did not have the "goods".
On March 20, De announced that he had drugs, so Thang and Duong continued to Nghe An. Duong gave De 260 million to buy drugs. De took the money and went into the forest behind his house to buy more than 1.5 kg of various drugs from Lao people, worth 238 million VND.
After receiving the drugs, early in the morning of March 21, 2022, Duong and Thang returned to the main road to go home and were arrested by the police. De was also arrested later.
At the trial, the three defendants admitted to their crimes. Defendant Thang admitted that he was the initiator but did not directly participate in drug trafficking. Duong said he had mortgaged his car to the bank to get money to go to Nghe An to buy drugs.
Defendant De confessed that in this case he had profited 22 million VND and had spent it all. All 3 defendants asked the court to consider reducing their sentences.
After considering the role of each defendant in the case, the Trial Panel sentenced all three defendants: Va Pa De, Tran Quoc Duong, and Bui Van Thang to life in prison for the crime of illegal drug trafficking.
