Venezuela secretly arrests former Defense Minister Baduel

According to AFP, on September 1, the family of former Venezuelan Defense Minister Raul Isaias Baduel, a government critic who has been missing for three weeks, said he is being held by intelligence agencies.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Baduel's daughter, Ms Andreina, said that the family only learned of Mr Baduel's whereabouts after a call from the new Attorney General Tarek William Saab, and that she and her brother were taken to see Mr Baduel.

"They kept him in SEBIN at Plaza Venezuela, known as the 'mausoleum'," Ms Andreina said, referring to the intelligence agency's headquarters in Caracas.
