Vietnam records 239 Covid-19 cases, 1 new case at Bach Mai Hospital
On the morning of April 4, the Ministry of Health announced two new cases of Covid-19 in Vietnam, bringing the total number of cases to 239.
On the morning of April 4, the Ministry of Health announced two new cases of Covid-19 in Vietnam, including one more case related to the outbreak at Bach Mai Hospital.
Case 238 (Patient 238):The patient is a 17-year-old female, residing in Thach Ha town, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province. The patient is a freelance worker in Thailand and previously stayed with a friend (Patient 210) in Thailand. On March 17, the patient traveled by car from Bangkok, Thailand to Vietnam. On March 18, she entered the country through Cha Lo border gate, Quang Binh province and was taken to a centralized quarantine area in Quang Binh province for 1 day. On March 21, she was taken to a centralized quarantine area at Thach Long Kindergarten, Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province.
The Ha Tinh Provincial Center for Disease Control has investigated, monitored, collected samples for testing and the results were positive for SARS-CoV-2. The sample sent to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology also showed positive results. Currently, the patient is being quarantined at Cau Treo General Hospital, Huong Son District, Ha Tinh Province, and is in stable health condition.

Case 239 (BN 239):Male patient, 71 years old, address in An Hoa, Tam Duong, Vinh Phuc province. On March 11, the patient went to the Oncology Department, Bach Mai Hospital for examination and treatment of cancer and returned home the same day. On March 18, the patient went back to the Oncology Department, Bach Mai Hospital, and on March 19 returned to his hometown in Vinh Phuc. During the examination at Bach Mai Hospital, he bought food at the canteen. From March 19 to 26, the patient stayed at home and did not go anywhere. From March 26 to 28, 2020, the patient isolated at home. On March 28, the patient had a slight fever and was hospitalized at Vinh Phuc General Hospital.
On April 1, the Vinh Phuc Provincial Center for Disease Control collected samples and on April 2 sent them to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, with positive results for SARS-CoV-2. Currently, the patient is being isolated and treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, branch 2.
At the Government Standing Committee meeting on the afternoon of April 3, the Prime Minister requested that Directive 16 be strictly implemented and social distancing be strictly enforced. People should only leave their homes if absolutely necessary; always wear masks, and stand at least 2 meters apart...
The Ministry of Health will soon complete preparations for complex situations; further accelerate the self-sufficiency in the production of protective equipment. There will be a program to develop ventilators in Vietnam in a fundamental and rigorous manner, with the State's support mechanism. The Prime Minister welcomes units with plans to produce ventilators in Vietnam.
In the work of preventing and fighting Covid-19, continue to promote early detection of cases in the community to promptly localize and contain the epidemic.
In the context of this global pandemic, all levels and sectors need to change their thinking and working methods even more. This is an opportunity to promote the digital economy, e-commerce and an occasion for stronger administrative reform.
The Prime Minister reiterated the requirement that localities, especially large cities, continue to ensure reserves and provide sufficient quantities of essential goods to serve the people; prevent price speculation and increase prices; ensure security and order in all situations; and strictly handle cases of dishonest declaration.
