Vietnam supports Laos with 200,000 USD to overcome the incident of hydroelectric dam collapse
The Prime Minister has just decided to provide financial support to overcome the consequences of the hydroelectric dam collapse in Attapeu province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

15 Vietnamese households in Laos are safe after the hydroelectric dam collapsed.
There were no casualties among the Vietnamese community living in Attapeu province after the Xe Pian - Xe Namnoy dam collapsed.
Specifically, the Prime Minister decided to support 200,000 USD to the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic from the 2018 central budget reserve to urgently overcome the consequences of the hydroelectric dam collapse in Attapeu province.
The Prime Minister also directed the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to urgently study and propose forms of support for the Lao side at the scene of the hydropower dam collapse in Attapeu province, and report to the Prime Minister before July 30, 2018.
Previously, on July 24, a press release about the incident from Ratchaburi Power Generation Company (a Thai company participating in the project along with Korean and Lao partners) said that on the evening of July 23, Dam D of the Sepien Senamnoi hydropower project, 8 m wide, 770 m long, 16 m high, with the function of supporting the transfer of water from Senamnoi Lake, collapsed. Water flooded the downstream area and the Sepien River, 5 km from the dam. The dam collapsed due to continuous rain and storms over the past few days, causing too much water to flow into the reservoir. Currently, rescue and evacuation work for people around the affected area is being carried out urgently.
The Lao government has declared the flood-affected area in Sanamxay district, Attapeu province, an emergency disaster zone, directly affected by the collapse of the Sepien Senamnoi hydropower dam.
